Creative Writing tutor
I am a Royal Holloway, University London graduate with a BA and MA, specialising in arts and humanities. I am very keen to help pupils to learn and fully understand what they might not get in a classroom environment. Whilst at school and even at university, I had one-on-one help and I would not have got the grades if it was not for this extra help. That is why I want to help those who may need the extra help to get the grades they want.I did my A levels at a school as opposed to a college and this gave me the experience to work with the lower parts of the school (junior and senior). I would help...
Roxy has been an absolutely wonderful tutor. She is warm, very engaging, and clearly highly competent. Our son genuinely loved his lessons with her and always looked forward to them, which says a lot. We could see his confidence grow, and his writing abilities improved noticeably over a short period of time. Roxy has a fantastic way of connecting with children while still challenging them and helping them make real progress. We are incredibly grateful for her support and would highly recommend her to any parent.

Matthew has been amazing with my son is building his confidence in his KS3 English & Creative Writing by skills. My son has ASD/PDA and is currently in home education, so I needed a patient and understanding tutor, who could also encourage my son and help him develop his existing writing skills / text. Feedback from my son is that Matthew is really knowledgable and is great at moving him beyond his comfort zone!

Ifa M
Life changing experience!
I would like to express my appreciation for Ifa’s exceptional teaching skills in helping my son learn English. Ifa brings a wonderful combination of fun, knowledge, and experience to every lesson, making the learning process both enjoyable and highly effective. She engages with my son attentively throughout the entire session, ensuring that he remains focused and motivated without even realising how much he’s learning.
What truly stands out is Ifa’s ability to explain complex concepts in a way that my son immediately grasps. No other teacher has been able to reach him as clearly as Ifa has, and I was genuinely impressed by how quickly he picked up many ideas he had previously struggled with.
Not only has my son made tremendous progress, but I’ve also learned from Ifa. She has shown me the best ways to support my son’s learning journey, tailored specifically to his individual needs. Her guidance has been invaluable, and I’m grateful for the positive impact she’s had on both of us.
Thank you, Ifa!

We're aiming for a place at Rugby High School or Lawrence Sheriff. Can a tutor help with the 11+ writing component?
Absolutely. Many of our tutors have specific experience preparing children for 11+ entrance exams, including the creative and persuasive writing tasks required for competitive grammar schools in the Rugby area. They can help your child build the skills and confidence needed to perform their best on the day.
My child is hoping to apply to the University of Warwick. Can a tutor help with their personal statement?
Yes, definitely. A powerful personal statement is key for applications to competitive universities like Warwick. Our tutors can guide your child through the process of structuring their thoughts, showcasing their strengths, and crafting a compelling narrative that stands out.
How do I choose the right Writing tutor for my child?
You can read detailed tutor profiles, watch their introductory videos, and check verified reviews from other parents. We recommend looking for a tutor whose experience matches your child's specific needs, whether that's 11+ preparation, GCSE essay technique, or A-Level analysis.
What if my child doesn't click with their first tutor?
We want to make sure you find the perfect match. If for any reason you feel the first lesson wasn't quite right, just email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk. We will be happy to cover the cost of your first session with a different tutor.
Are all your tutors background-checked?
Yes, your child's safety is our top priority. Every single one of our tutors undergoes a thorough background check. We are also very selective, accepting only 1 in every 8 tutors who apply, so you can be sure you're choosing from the best.
How does online tutoring work?
Our online classroom has everything your child needs for a great lesson, including video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and a way to share documents. All your child needs is a laptop or computer and a stable internet connection. It’s simple, secure, and effective.
How can a tutor help my child feel more confident in their writing?
Often, a lack of confidence comes from not understanding a specific concept. A one-to-one tutor can patiently break down tricky topics, from sentence structure to essay planning, in a way that makes sense to your child. This personalised attention and encouragement can make a huge difference.
How much does online Writing tuition cost?
The cost varies depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications. Prices are clearly displayed on each tutor's profile, so you can find an expert who fits your budget. There are no hidden fees or contracts to worry about.
Is it just for school subjects, or can you help with creative writing or public speaking skills?
We offer tutoring in over 300 subjects! Beyond academic writing for exams, many of our tutors can help your child explore creative writing, journalism, public speaking, or even professional writing skills. It's a great way to build confidence and explore a passion.
How long does it take to see an improvement in my child's writing?
Every child learns at their own pace, but regular, focused sessions can lead to improvements quite quickly. The goal is to build strong foundational skills and confidence, which creates a positive impact that lasts. In fact, 90% of our students improve by at least one grade.
My child finds writing boring. How can a tutor make it more engaging?
A great tutor knows how to connect with your child and make learning fun. They can use your child's interests to inspire writing tasks, turn grammar into a game, or explore exciting texts that spark their imagination. The goal is to show them that writing can be a powerful and enjoyable tool.
How can a tutor help my child feel more confident in their writing?
Our tutors come from a wide range of backgrounds, including experienced teachers, university lecturers, and subject matter experts. You can see all of their qualifications, experience, and parent reviews clearly listed on their personal profiles.
