Academic Russian Course Russian Tutor/Examiner
Students study all aspects of language learning. It is a balanced individually tailored course.I use super advanced materials and interactive platforms to develop skills. At each lesson we use phonetic exercises for articulation, grammar practice tests, listening, reading and writing exercises. Last year all students taking A level exams got either an A or an A*. Since 2010 there has not been a mark lower than A in GCSE and A level exams. Some students prefer to sit Russian as a Foreign Language tests. They also score quite high in their results.I support students with great materials, cultural knowledge...

Friendly, patient Russian tutor
I am a friendly, patient tutor of languages and music. I teach French and Russian (which I’ve studied to master’s level at the University of Bath, and to undergraduate level at the University of Oxford) and Latin and Classical Greek (which I took to A level equivalent). I also teach guitar (acoustic and electric), electric bass, and drums, which I’ve played semi-professionally in rock, folk and jazz bands, as well as music theory, which I think can be helpful for any musical style.I have several years’ experience of tutoring languages and music at a variety of levels from beginner onwards. I reall...

I have been tutoring Russian for the last 25 years.
I have in particular come to understand the value of sharing learning objectives and success criteria with children. Knowing exactly what is expected and how they can achieve allows children to focus more clearly on tasks.Progression needs to be planned for, so that as children work and explore at their own pace, there is always something else ready to move them on and take them further in their learning. I also believe that differentiation and meeting varied learning styles are key to effective teaching and learning. Work should be set at an appropriate, but challenging, level. When I prepare...
Ekaterina is friendly and encouraging and her lessons always feel lively and personal. She brings in real-life examples and cultural context that make learning the language much more interesting! I really enjoy how she mixes conversation practice with grammar and uses different resources like online quizzes, short texts, and discussions. I always come away feeling like I’ve learned something useful! :)

Elina K
Elina's lessons have been very helpful to me for multiple reasons. She's helped me a lot with improving my vocabulary, speaking confidence, and grammar. We've focused equally on all of these things and this has me progressing evenly in all areas.
Elina is very friendly and easy-going. This creates a positive environment where it's easy to learn. She's also a native Russian speaker, and so her understanding of Russian is obviously very advanced. Her English is great too, which makes things easier for a native English speaker like me, as she can translate Russian into English easily.

My child's school in Newcastle-under-Lyme doesn't offer Russian. Can a tutor help them study for a GCSE or A-Level?
Absolutely. This is a very common reason parents come to us. Our tutors are experienced in guiding students through the entire GCSE or A-Level curriculum, even if they are studying it independently. They can create a structured learning plan, cover all the key topics, and prepare your child thoroughly for their exams.
Can a tutor help my child with their university application for a course like Modern Languages?
Yes, many of our tutors have experience helping students with their UCAS applications. Demonstrating a high level of skill in a language like Russian can significantly strengthen a personal statement and make an application stand out to top universities. A tutor can help your child articulate their passion and skills effectively.
How do I choose the right Russian tutor for my child?
It's easy to find a great match on Tutorful. You can watch introductory videos, read reviews from other parents, and check each tutor's qualifications and experience on their profile. You can also send them a message before booking to make sure they're the right fit for your child's personality and learning goals.
What happens if we don't click with the first tutor?
We want to make sure you find the perfect match, which is why we have our first lesson guarantee. If for any reason you don't get on with your first tutor, just email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How much do online Russian tutors cost?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications. You can easily filter tutors by price on our website to find someone who fits your budget. The cost for each tutor is clearly displayed on their profile, so there are no hidden surprises.
Are all the tutors on your platform background-checked?
Yes, your child's safety is our absolute priority. Every single tutor is interviewed and has their ID and qualifications verified. We also carry out background checks to ensure they are safe to work with children before they can join the platform.
How do online lessons work?
Our online classroom has all the tools your child needs for a great lesson, including a video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and a space to share documents. All they need is a laptop or computer with a microphone and camera. It's a simple and effective way to learn from the comfort of your home.
How can a tutor help my child build confidence?
One-to-one tutoring creates a safe space where your child can ask questions without feeling embarrassed. A great tutor will celebrate their progress, help them overcome challenges, and show them what they're capable of, which can make a huge difference to their self-belief.
What if my child is a complete beginner in Russian?
That's no problem at all! Our tutors love working with students of all levels, from absolute beginners to those studying at a higher level. They can start with the very basics, like the alphabet, and build a strong foundation at a pace that feels comfortable for your child.
Is this just for school subjects, or can my child learn other skills?

How often should my child have a lesson?
Most families find that one session a week works well, but it's completely flexible. You can arrange lessons as often as you feel your child needs them. You can discuss what would be most effective directly with your chosen tutor.
How do online lessons work?
Your tutor will provide regular feedback on your child's progress. Because the lessons are one-to-one, they have a deep understanding of your child's strengths and the areas they need to work on, and they can share these insights with you to ensure you're always up to date.
