Jack R
We’ve had a fantastic experience with Jack as a maths tutor - so far my daughter had three sessions with him. Jack is an excellent communicator and explains concepts clearly and step-by-step, making even the all topics feel manageable. His lessons are well-structured and thoughtfully tailored to my daughter’s needs (we aim for confidence in class and confident GCSE mark).
Jack is also incredibly friendly and positive, which creates a really encouraging learning environment - one of my key requirements. My daughter genuinely enjoys her lessons with him and is already feeling much more confident in her maths curriculum. Highly recommended!

Brilliant Maths tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child is aiming for a place at Brampton Manor Academy. Can a tutor help with this?
Yes, absolutely. Many of our tutors are experienced in helping students achieve the high grades, like a 7 or above in Maths, that are often required for entry into competitive sixth forms like Brampton Manor. They can focus on strengthening core knowledge and mastering exam technique to help your child meet that goal.
We're worried that a weak Maths grade will block entry to a good university. How can you help?
This is a common concern, and we're here to help. A strong GCSE Maths grade is crucial for many A-Level subjects and university courses, especially in STEM and finance. Our tutors work to build a deep understanding of the subject, giving your child the solid foundation they need to progress confidently to the next stage of their education.
How do I choose the right Maths tutor for my child?
You can read detailed tutor profiles, watch introductory videos, and check reviews from other parents to get a feel for their teaching style. We recommend sending a message to a few tutors to discuss your child's specific needs before booking. Finding the right personality fit is just as important as their expertise.
What happens if we don't click with the first Maths tutor we try?
We want to make sure you find the perfect match for your child. That's why we have our First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How much does an online Maths tutor cost in Plaistow?
Our tutors set their own rates based on their experience and qualifications. Prices are displayed clearly on each tutor's profile, so you can find an expert who fits your budget. There are no hidden fees or contracts.
How do online lessons actually work?
Our online classroom has everything your child needs for a great lesson, including a shared whiteboard, video chat, and file sharing. It's a secure and simple-to-use platform where your child can work collaboratively with their tutor on anything from past papers to tricky algebra problems.
Are your tutors background-checked?
Yes, your child's safety is our top priority. All our tutors are background-checked and we interview every single one. We are very selective and only accept 1 in every 8 tutors who apply to join our platform, so you can be sure your child is in safe, expert hands.
How can a tutor help my child feel more confident in Maths?
Confidence often comes from understanding. In a one-to-one setting, your child has a safe space to ask questions they might be too shy to ask in class. Tutors can break down complex topics into manageable steps, celebrating small wins along the way and showing your child that they are capable of succeeding.
Is tutoring just for school subjects, or can my child learn skills like coding or guitar?
While we help thousands of students with academic subjects like Maths and English, we also have expert tutors for a huge range of other skills! You can find tutors for coding languages like Python, musical instruments like the guitar or piano, and even hobbies like chess or art.
How soon will we see an improvement in my child's grades?
Every child learns at their own pace, but our focus is on building a solid foundation for long-term success. Many parents tell us they see a boost in their child's confidence and engagement after just a few sessions. In fact, 90% of our students improve by at least one grade.
Can a tutor help with exam technique as well as the subject?
Yes, this is a key part of what our tutors do. They can teach your child effective revision strategies, time management skills for the exam hall, and how to interpret questions to make sure they're giving the examiners what they're looking for. This is often just as important as subject knowledge.
What are the benefits of online tutoring over meeting in person?
Online tutoring offers great flexibility, fitting around your family's busy schedule without any travel time. It also gives you access to the very best tutors from across the UK, not just those who live locally. Plus, all sessions are recorded, so your child can revisit tricky topics whenever they need to.
