Experienced Maths and Science Tutor Maths and Science
I enjoy Mathematics greatly, having studied both Maths and Further Maths at A-Level, also while I was at sixth form I took part in working as a classroom assistant in Year 8 Maths lessons, which gave me valuable experience at teaching students. I took part in another programme which taught the elderly how to be computer literate, these two experiences have given me very different skills to utilise whilst teaching. In my experience as a one-on-one tutor I have usually found my best strategy is to utilise examples, both ones I work through myself and others I assist my students in working through,...

Jack R
We’ve had a fantastic experience with Jack as a maths tutor - so far my daughter had three sessions with him. Jack is an excellent communicator and explains concepts clearly and step-by-step, making even the all topics feel manageable. His lessons are well-structured and thoughtfully tailored to my daughter’s needs (we aim for confidence in class and confident GCSE mark).
Jack is also incredibly friendly and positive, which creates a really encouraging learning environment - one of my key requirements. My daughter genuinely enjoys her lessons with him and is already feeling much more confident in her maths curriculum. Highly recommended!

Can a tutor help my child prepare for A-Levels at the College of West Anglia?
Absolutely. Many of our tutors are experienced in helping students make the transition from GCSE to A-Level. They can help your child build the strong foundational knowledge needed for the step up in difficulty, ensuring they feel confident and prepared for their courses at college.
My child is aiming for a top university like Cambridge. Can a tutor provide that level of support?
Yes. We have many tutors with experience in helping students prepare for applications to competitive universities, including Oxbridge and Russell Group institutions. They can provide advanced subject knowledge, help with entrance exam preparation, and build the independent thinking skills that these universities look for.
How do I choose the right Maths tutor for my child?
You can read detailed tutor profiles, watch their introductory videos, and check reviews from other parents. You can also message tutors before booking to discuss your child's specific needs and goals to ensure they are a good match.
How can a tutor help my child if they've lost confidence in Maths?
This is one of the most powerful benefits of one-to-one tutoring. A great tutor creates a safe, patient, and encouraging space where your child feels comfortable to ask questions. By breaking down tricky topics and celebrating small wins, they can rebuild your child's self-belief step-by-step.
What if my child doesn't click with their first tutor?
Finding the right fit is the most important thing. That's why we have our First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your first tutor for any reason, just email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
Are the tutors background-checked?
Yes, your child's safety is our top priority. All our tutors must have a valid DBS check and provide references. We also interview every single tutor to ensure they are experienced, professional, and passionate about teaching.
How do online lessons actually work?
Lessons take place in our specially designed online classroom. It includes a video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and the ability to share documents. It's a simple, effective, and engaging way for your child to learn from the comfort of home.
How much does online Maths tutoring cost?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications. You can see each tutor's hourly rate clearly on their profile. There are no hidden fees or contracts, so you can find high-quality, affordable support that fits your budget.
Can tutoring help with specific topics like algebra or trigonometry?
Definitely. The great thing about one-to-one lessons is that they are completely tailored to your child's needs. If they're finding a particular area of Maths difficult, the tutor can dedicate entire sessions to that topic until your child feels completely confident with it.
How many lessons will my child need?
This is completely up to you and depends on your child's goals. Some families use tutoring for a short-term boost before an exam, while others prefer regular weekly sessions to build skills over time. You can discuss this directly with your chosen tutor.
Is it only for school subjects, or can you help with other skills?
While we cover all academic subjects from primary to degree level, we also have tutors who can teach practical and creative skills. Whether your child wants to learn to play the guitar, get started with coding, or even learn a new language for fun, you can find an expert tutor to help.
What happens if we need to cancel or reschedule a lesson?
We understand that life gets busy. Our platform makes it easy to manage your schedule. You can cancel or reschedule a lesson with your tutor, but we do ask that you give them at least 12 hours' notice as per our cancellation policy.
