Hello!
I am a patient and enthusiastic tutor, willing to help students achieve the best grades possible in Maths and Chemistry.
Through my own experiences, I am able to help students understand and practice specific concepts. I usually start my lessons with a quick retrieval, followed by an explanation of new concepts, and then practice questions. To finish, I give students an exam question and explain the mark scheme to them to ensure they can achieve top grades in exams. I have tutored other students for four years, so I am familiar with teaching methods that work well!
Previously, I...

My innovative teaching methods have been praised by reviewers and, most importantly, by the students themselves, who have consistently provided me with good feedback. My speciality is in using my engineering background...

Peter J
My son has been having regular weekly A-level maths lessons with Peter for a couple of months now and he's absolutely brilliant. My son says he's the best tutor he's had - he's super positive and encouraging, explains things really clearly and just makes things make sense that my son had found tricky in his college maths classes. Peter is always really helpful if we need to change the day or time of a session and responds to messages promptly. My son is already feeling much more confident about his maths exams and looks forwards to his sessions with Peter. Would definitely recommend!

Brilliant Maths tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child is aiming for a place at Bishop Stopford or Brooke Weston. Can a tutor help them excel in Maths?
Yes, absolutely. Our tutors are experienced in helping students meet the high standards of sought-after secondary schools. They can create a personalised learning plan to target specific areas of the Maths curriculum, helping your child build the skills and confidence needed to perform at their best.
We're thinking about A-Levels in Kettering and university later on. How can a Maths tutor support these long-term goals?
A tutor can be a fantastic partner in your child's long-term academic journey. By securing a strong GCSE in Maths, they keep their options open for competitive A-Level providers and university courses. A tutor helps build a solid foundation, ensuring they don't just pass, but truly understand the subject.
How do I choose the best Maths tutor for my child?
You can watch introductory videos, read reviews from other parents, and message tutors for free before booking. We recommend finding someone your child will connect with, as a positive relationship is key to building confidence and making progress.
Are all the tutors background-checked?
Yes, your child's safety is our top priority. Every tutor on our platform undergoes a thorough vetting process, including an identity check and a background check, before they can start teaching. We only accept 1 in 8 tutors who apply, so you can be sure you're choosing from the best.
What if my child doesn't click with their first tutor?
We know that finding the right personality match is essential for learning. That's why we have our First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How much does online Maths tutoring cost?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications. You can see each tutor's hourly rate clearly on their profile, allowing you to find an expert who fits your budget. There are no hidden fees or long-term contracts.
How do online lessons work?
Our online classroom has everything your child needs for a great lesson, including a shared whiteboard, video chat, and file sharing. It’s a simple and effective way for your child to learn from the comfort of your home, at a time that suits your family.
My child has lost their confidence in Maths. How can a tutor help?
This is one of the most common reasons parents come to us. A one-to-one tutor provides a safe, patient, and encouraging space for your child to ask questions and make mistakes without fear of judgement. Rebuilding that self-belief is often the first and most important step.
Do you only offer academic subjects like Maths?
Not at all! While we have experts for core subjects from the 11+ right through to degree level, we also have tutors for a huge range of other skills. Whether your child wants to learn guitar, coding, or a new language, you can find a brilliant tutor to help them explore their passions.
How often should my child have a lesson?
Most families find that one lesson a week works best for consistent progress. However, the frequency is completely up to you. You might want more sessions in the run-up to an exam or fewer during school holidays. You can discuss what's best with your chosen tutor.
Are the tutors qualified to teach Maths?
Yes. Our Maths tutors range from experienced teachers and examiners to talented university students who are passionate about their subject. You can view each tutor's full qualifications, experience, and teaching approach on their profile to find the perfect fit for your child.
How long will my child need tutoring for?
There's no single answer, as every child is different. Some students may only need a few sessions to prepare for an exam, while others benefit from weekly support throughout the school year. It’s a flexible arrangement that you and your tutor can tailor to your child’s needs.
