Effective Maths tutor
Hi! I’m a passionate and dedicated tutor with a strong record of helping students unlock their potential and achieve their academic goals. Over the years, I’ve worked with learners from primary school and high school, with a particular focus on GCSE Maths and English language. I also support KS2 and 11+ students helping build strong foundations in Maths, Verbal reasoning and Creative Writing. What drives me as a tutor is seeing that “lightbulb moment” when a student is capable of success when they’re taught in a way that works for them. Enthusiastic and patient Maths tutor
Hi, I’m Scarlett! I'm based in West Yorkshire.I run my lessons in a variety of ways and teaching styles. I treat lessons like a discussion, including the student and asking them questions throughout the process of learning. Some lessons are focused on reviewing specific topics or information, but I also run sessions focusing on specific skills, such as essay writing in English and History but also approaching complex questions in Maths. In terms of History, I have knowledge in the following AQA GCSE topics: ‘Health and the People (c1000 - present day)’, ‘The First World War (1894 - 1918)’, ‘America:...

Dedicated Maths tutor
With a combined 10 years' of education experience across two institutions, I have encountered many types of students - some aged 16, some aged 60. All present very unique educational needs, or even sensory needs; at times, it is necessary for me to deliver or reiterate classroom content through British Sign Language (BSL), something I would be more than happy to do with clients here as well. My responsibility as a Learning Link Tutor is to bridge the gap between learner and tutor within the classroom, and academically support the students who need it. Although I only possess a Level 4 teaching...

Jack R
We’ve had a fantastic experience with Jack as a maths tutor - so far my daughter had three sessions with him. Jack is an excellent communicator and explains concepts clearly and step-by-step, making even the all topics feel manageable. His lessons are well-structured and thoughtfully tailored to my daughter’s needs (we aim for confidence in class and confident GCSE mark).
Jack is also incredibly friendly and positive, which creates a really encouraging learning environment - one of my key requirements. My daughter genuinely enjoys her lessons with him and is already feeling much more confident in her maths curriculum. Highly recommended!

Brilliant Maths GCSE tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child hopes to study A-levels at Huddersfield New College. Can a tutor help them secure the right Maths GCSE grade?
Absolutely. Our tutors are experienced in helping students aim for specific grades needed for college entry. They can create a learning plan that focuses on strengthening weak areas to help your child meet the requirements for their chosen A-level courses.
We live in Brighouse, are the tutors local?
Because our tutoring is all online, your child can connect with the very best tutors from across the UK, not just those in the Brighouse area. This gives you a much wider choice of specialists, ensuring you find the perfect match for your child's needs and personality.
How do I choose the right Maths GCSE tutor for my child?
You can watch tutors' introductory videos, read reviews from other parents, and send messages to ask questions before you book. Many tutors also offer a free 15-minute chat, which is a great way for you and your child to meet them and make sure it feels like a good fit.
What if we don't click with the first tutor?
We want to find the perfect match for your child. With our First Lesson Guarantee, if you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How much does online Maths GCSE tutoring cost?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications. You can easily filter tutors by price to find an expert who fits your budget. There are no hidden fees or long-term contracts.
How can a tutor help my child feel more confident in maths?
Confidence often comes from understanding. In a one-to-one setting, your child has a safe space to ask questions they might not ask in class. By breaking down tricky topics and celebrating small wins, a tutor can help them see that they *can* do maths, which is a huge motivator.
Are your tutors background-checked and vetted?
Yes, your child's safety is our top priority. All our tutors are background-checked and must pass a rigorous application process. We only accept 1 in every 8 tutors who apply, so you can be sure your child is learning from the best.
How does the online classroom work?
Our online classroom is designed to be simple and effective. It has an interactive whiteboard, video chat, and file sharing, so your child and their tutor can work through problems together just as they would in person. All you need is a laptop or computer and a stable internet connection.
How often should my child have a tutoring session?
Most families find that one session a week is ideal for consistent progress, especially in the run-up to exams. However, it's completely flexible. You can discuss what works best for your child's goals and your family's schedule with your chosen tutor.
What results can we expect from tutoring?
While every child is different, our data shows that learning with us works. Over 90% of our students improve by at least one grade, and for GCSEs, we can help students improve by up to two grades. It's why over 200,000 students have trusted Tutorful.
How quickly can we get started?
You can get started very quickly. Simply search for a tutor, send them a message to arrange a time, and you could have your first lesson booked within a day. It's a straightforward way to get your child the support they need, right when they need it.
Do you only offer academic subjects like Maths?
We offer a huge range of subjects for all ages and interests! Alongside core school subjects, you can find tutors for skills like coding or playing the guitar, support for university degrees, and even personal development coaching.
