Find An Expert History Tutor For Learners In East Lothian

Catherine is an absolute lifesaver! She is so understanding, flexible, incredibly sweet, and patient during every single session. She has been tutoring me for my History A-Level NEA, and she has honestly helped me understand complex concepts and structure my work in ways that my school teachers just couldn't get across. Not only does she make the content so much clearer, but she’s also been incredible at helping me actually complete my upcoming work and stay on top of everything that's due. She’s so friendly and approachable, which makes working through stressful deadlines so much easier. I genuinely couldn't recommend her enough! Even though she majors in biology she’s amazing at humanities and essays! very excited to continue lessons with her Untill my year 13 exams <3

James is the best teacher I have ever had. He is an exceptionally knowledgeable historian, particularly in military history. Beyond teaching historical facts, James provides a solid understanding of how to structure answers, encourages students to analyse alternative arguments, and helps them identify the underlying significance of historical events. He significantly improved my essay-structure as well. He always prepares materials tailored to each individual lesson and takes the student's preferences into account. I believe he spends at least an hour preparing for each session. I am genuinely glad to have had the opportunity to work with James while preparing for my A-Level History examinations. Thanks to his lessons and guidance, I am now predicted to achieve an A, or higher, in A-Level History.

Jordan has been tutoring my son for GCSE history (Edexcel). My son says he is "lively, patient and friendly". He is also reliable, punctual and knowledgeable about the topics and exam techniques.

Christine was incredible, she really helped my daughter focus on her GCSE preparation and catch up on the content she had missed. She knows really well the board requirements and the exam techniques. My daughter got an A in history. Thank you Christina!

Claire is an amazing history tutor and has helped me gained my confidence when answering an A level history question. I recommend!!

I thank the Lord for Greg as he was an answer to prayer for my son’s History GCSE. He was doing GCSE history in a year and his college tutor went off sick in February half term. My son has ASD. We found Greg on Tutorful and his grade went from a 4 in Mocks to a 6 in final exam.Greg was very patient and kept my son interested in his least favourite subject. Brilliant tutor. Thank you Greg.

Let me start this off by saying, my English skills would be nowhere without Rukudzo. She is the most skilled and intellectual tutor one could find. When we started together, I did not even know the differences between verbs and nouns at 15 years old (I know!). Despite my lack of basic grammar, Rukudzo offered a patient, judgment free environment. She doesn’t just treat you like a student but like a friend, paying attention to detail, being ready to help, and is truly different to other teachers. Rukudzo has not only shaped my educational journey, but my emotional one too. She played a pivotal role in who I am today, teaching me to stand up for myself and be proud of my background. Through all the highs and lows of my personal life, Rukudzo has always been a constant presence, offering kindness where there was none. Rukudzo prioritises health over A’s, which is what made lessons with her so easy and enjoyable. I never felt pressure to excel or overachieve. Just to try my best. That kind of tranquility and care leaves room for a child to thrive. Her English language skills and literature knowledge is impeccable. Her insights are deeply profound and she is quite skilled at not spoon feeding lessons to you. She offers guidance and allows the student to truly flourish into their own writing style, consolidating knowledge rather than memorising it. Rukudzo welcomes questions, no matter how many, with a smile and answers at hand. As of today, I received a Grade 7 in English Language GCSE and 8 in Literature GCSE. I truly could have never achieved such a score without Rukudzo’s warm nature and amazing lessons. In fact, many I speak to believe I am far too eloquent for my age, with some kids thinking I’m a robot 😜 (I swear I’m not), and lawyers at a firm I received an internship for believing I used AI to write my responses to questions, (something I also did not do!) If you want to excel in a judgment free environment overflowing with patience and care, Rukudzo is definitely the tutor you should go for!
