Ricarda M
My daughter has been using Ricarda for A Level German tuition for the past couple of months. My daughter's test grades have already gone up and her teacher has commented on the progress she has made over the last couple of months. Ricarda is very personable, reliable and responsive. She listens, and quickly understood the areas my daughter needs to work on. She is a great tutor and I'm very happy that I chose her to support my daughter. I would highly recommend Ricarda!

Mara F
I've been learning German with Mara for around 2 months having used language apps prior to this.
Mara quickly grasped my level, identifying my weaknesses whilst also taking onboard my overall aspirations and what I hoped to achieve from tutoring.
Throughout my lessons, she has both requested and listened to my feedback regarding lesson structure, which are tailored to my preferences making them engaging and enjoyable.
Mara's traditional approach has improved my understanding of fundamental German language concepts which I hope to build on in the future.
In addition to the above, Mara is flexible with her schedule and very responsive outside of lesson time.

Astrid W
My daughter was predicted a grade 5 in her German GCSE but, thanks to Astrid, she achieved a grade 7! Astrid’s lessons were clear, supportive, and really helped build her confidence, she even started to enjoy German. Astrid was also kind and flexible, which made the whole experience so positive. We’re so grateful for the huge difference she made and would highly recommend her!

Brilliant German tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child is worried about the grades needed for the University of Glasgow. Can a tutor help with this?
Absolutely. Many of our tutors are experienced in helping students prepare for competitive university entry. They can focus on the specific areas of the Higher German curriculum your child finds challenging, helping them build the skills and confidence needed to secure the grades for their chosen course at Glasgow, Strathclyde, or beyond.
We live near a competitive school like Williamwood High. Can a tutor help my child keep up?
Yes, a tutor can provide fantastic support in a competitive school environment. They can work at your child's pace, reinforcing what they've learned in class, filling in any gaps, and even stretching them further if they're ready. This helps reduce pressure and ensures they feel confident, not just keeping up, but thriving.
How do I choose the right German tutor for my child?
It's simple to find the right fit. You can use our search filters to find tutors with experience in the Scottish curriculum (National 5 and Higher). Watch their introductory videos, read reviews from other parents, and message them to discuss your child's needs before you book. It's all about finding someone your child will connect with.
What happens if we don't click with the first tutor?
We want to make sure you find the perfect match. That's why we have our First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How can a tutor help my child feel more confident in German?
Confidence often comes from understanding. In a one-to-one session, your child has a safe space to ask questions they might not ask in class. Tutors can break down difficult topics, celebrate small wins, and show your child exactly what they're capable of, which makes a huge difference to their self-belief.
How much do online German tutors cost?
Our tutors set their own hourly rates, typically starting from around £20 per hour. Prices vary based on the tutor's experience and level of demand. You can see each tutor's price clearly on their profile, so you can find an expert who fits your budget.
Are the tutors background-checked?
Yes, your child's safety is our top priority. All our tutors are background-checked and we interview every single one. We are very selective, accepting only 1 in 8 tutors who apply, to ensure your child is learning from the best.
How does online tutoring work? What do we need?
It’s really straightforward. All lessons take place in our purpose-built online classroom, which features a video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and document sharing. All your child needs is a computer or tablet with a webcam, a microphone, and a stable internet connection.
Can we get help with specific exam techniques for National 5 or Higher German?
Definitely. Our tutors are brilliant at helping with exam preparation. They can work through past papers, teach your child effective revision strategies, and show them how to structure answers to gain maximum marks in their listening, reading, and writing exams.
Do you only offer academic subjects, or can my child learn other skills?
While we love helping with academic subjects, we also have tutors for a huge range of other skills! Whether your child wants to learn to play the guitar, get into coding, or pick up a new hobby, you can find an expert tutor to help them.
How long is a typical tutoring session?
Most sessions are one hour long, as this gives enough time to cover a topic in detail without your child losing focus. However, you can arrange different session lengths with your tutor to suit your child's needs and your family's schedule.
Are the tutors background-checked?
You can get started very quickly. Many parents find and book the perfect tutor within 24 hours. You can browse tutors, send messages to ask questions, and book your first session directly from their profile at a time that works for you.
