Ricarda M
My daughter has been using Ricarda for A Level German tuition for the past couple of months. My daughter's test grades have already gone up and her teacher has commented on the progress she has made over the last couple of months. Ricarda is very personable, reliable and responsive. She listens, and quickly understood the areas my daughter needs to work on. She is a great tutor and I'm very happy that I chose her to support my daughter. I would highly recommend Ricarda!

Mara F
I've been learning German with Mara for around 2 months having used language apps prior to this.
Mara quickly grasped my level, identifying my weaknesses whilst also taking onboard my overall aspirations and what I hoped to achieve from tutoring.
Throughout my lessons, she has both requested and listened to my feedback regarding lesson structure, which are tailored to my preferences making them engaging and enjoyable.
Mara's traditional approach has improved my understanding of fundamental German language concepts which I hope to build on in the future.
In addition to the above, Mara is flexible with her schedule and very responsive outside of lesson time.

My daughter was predicted a grade 5 in her German GCSE but, thanks to Astrid, she achieved a grade 7! Astrid’s lessons were clear, supportive, and really helped build her confidence, she even started to enjoy German. Astrid was also kind and flexible, which made the whole experience so positive. We’re so grateful for the huge difference she made and would highly recommend her!

Brilliant German tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
Can a tutor help my child get the GCSE grade they need for Shrewsbury Sixth Form College?
Absolutely. Many parents in Shrewsbury come to us with this exact goal. Our tutors can create a tailored revision plan focusing on the specific areas of the German GCSE your child finds challenging, helping to build their skills and confidence to aim for those top grades.
How can a German A-Level help my child's application to a Russell Group university?
Admissions tutors at top universities value language A-Levels highly. They demonstrate strong analytical skills, dedication, and a global perspective. A good grade in a rigorous subject like German can make your child's UCAS application much more compelling and open up a wider range of course options.
How do I choose the right German tutor for my child?
It's a really personal choice. We recommend reading tutor profiles, checking their experience with the GCSE or A-Level curriculum, and looking at reviews from other parents. You can also send a message to a few tutors to see who feels like the best fit for your child's personality and learning style.
What if my child doesn't click with their first tutor?
We know that the right relationship is key to learning. That's why we have our first lesson guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How do you vet your tutors?
We take safety and quality very seriously. Every tutor is interviewed and must provide a valid DBS check. We only accept 1 in 8 tutors who apply, ensuring your child is learning from a skilled and trusted expert. Our 4.6-star rating from over 4,100 reviews shows how much parents trust us.
How much does an online German tutor cost?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications. You can see each tutor's hourly rate clearly on their profile, allowing you to find an experienced tutor that fits your family's budget. There are no hidden fees or contracts.
How does online tutoring work?
It's simple and effective. Lessons take place in our purpose-built online classroom, which features video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and document sharing. It has all the tools needed for a tutor to explain German grammar or practice conversation skills just as they would in person.
Can tutoring help if my child has lost confidence in German?
Yes, this is one of the biggest benefits of one-to-one support. A private tutor creates a safe, patient environment where your child can ask questions without feeling embarrassed. Rebuilding that confidence is often the first step to seeing their grades and enjoyment of the subject improve.
How often should my child have lessons?
Most families find that a one-hour session per week is ideal for making consistent progress. However, you can arrange lessons as often as you feel your child needs. You might want to increase the frequency in the run-up to exams for focused revision.
Is Tutorful just for academic subjects like German?
Not at all! While we support core subjects for exams like the 11+, GCSEs and A-Levels, we also have tutors for a huge range of other skills. Your child could learn to play the guitar, get help with their university dissertation, or even learn a new skill like coding.
What happens in the first lesson?
The first session is usually about the tutor getting to know your child. They'll chat about what they enjoy and what they find difficult in German, discuss their goals, and assess their current level. This helps the tutor create a learning plan tailored specifically to your child.
How does online tutoring work?
The standard session length is one hour, which is usually perfect for covering a topic in depth without losing focus. However, you can discuss different session lengths with your tutor if your child would benefit from a shorter or longer lesson.
