German Tutor for Beginners
I am a teacher who is passionate about teaching foreign languages and I specialise in German. My teaching technique is practical and avoids ‘reinventing the wheel’ – presenting a good balance of grammar and spoken word with plenty of practical exercises and revision; key elements that are essential to building up and strengthening the knowledge of a foreign language. There is much truth in the old saying, “Übung macht den Meister.“(Practice makes perfect.).A dose of humour is injectedbecause it makes learning a lot more enjoyable.Living and working in different parts of Germany has broadened my experie...

Ricarda M
My daughter has been using Ricarda for A Level German tuition for the past couple of months. My daughter's test grades have already gone up and her teacher has commented on the progress she has made over the last couple of months. Ricarda is very personable, reliable and responsive. She listens, and quickly understood the areas my daughter needs to work on. She is a great tutor and I'm very happy that I chose her to support my daughter. I would highly recommend Ricarda!

Mara F
I've been learning German with Mara for around 2 months having used language apps prior to this.
Mara quickly grasped my level, identifying my weaknesses whilst also taking onboard my overall aspirations and what I hoped to achieve from tutoring.
Throughout my lessons, she has both requested and listened to my feedback regarding lesson structure, which are tailored to my preferences making them engaging and enjoyable.
Mara's traditional approach has improved my understanding of fundamental German language concepts which I hope to build on in the future.
In addition to the above, Mara is flexible with her schedule and very responsive outside of lesson time.

Brilliant German tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child is hoping to apply to Keele University. Can a tutor help them achieve the German grade they need?
Absolutely. Many of our tutors are experienced in helping students secure the grades needed for competitive university courses. They can focus on the specific areas of the German curriculum that will strengthen your child's application and build the skills required for higher education.
With the high standards at schools like Newcastle-under-Lyme School, can a tutor really help my child keep up?
Yes, that's exactly where one-to-one tutoring can make a huge difference. A personal tutor can create a tailored learning plan that addresses the specific challenges of a demanding curriculum, helping your child manage the workload, close any knowledge gaps, and build confidence in a high-achieving environment.
What happens if we don't click with the first tutor?
We want to make sure it's the perfect fit. If for any reason you don't get on with your first tutor, just email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover the cost of your first session with a new tutor.
How do I choose the right German tutor for my child?
You can read detailed tutor profiles, watch their introductory videos, and check reviews from other parents. Many tutors offer a free 15-minute chat so you and your child can talk to them first to make sure they're a good match before booking any lessons.
How do I know the tutors are qualified and safe?
Your child's safety is our top priority. Every tutor is background-checked and has their ID and qualifications verified. We interview every tutor and only accept 1 in 8 who apply, so you can feel confident you're choosing from the very best.
Can tutoring help if my child's confidence in German is low?
Definitely. A huge part of tutoring is building a child's self-belief. In a one-to-one setting, your child has a safe space to ask questions without feeling embarrassed. Celebrating small wins and mastering tricky topics with a supportive tutor can transform how they feel about a subject.
How much does a German tutor cost?
Our tutors set their own prices, so you can find someone who fits your budget. Prices are displayed clearly on each tutor's profile, with no hidden fees. You simply pay as you go for the lessons you book.
How do the online lessons actually work?
Lessons take place in our purpose-built online classroom. It has an interactive whiteboard, video chat, and a function to share documents. It’s a secure and engaging way for your child to learn from the comfort of home.
Do you only offer academic subjects, or could my child learn something like guitar or coding?
We offer tutoring in over 300 subjects! While we cover all core academic subjects from the 11+ to degree level, your child can also learn practical skills like coding, a musical instrument like the guitar, or even a new hobby. There's something for everyone.
How often should my child have a tutoring session?
This is completely up to you and depends on your child's goals. Most families start with one session a week, but you can arrange more frequent lessons during exam periods or less frequent top-up sessions as needed. You can discuss the best approach with your tutor.
How effective is online tutoring?
Online tutoring is incredibly effective. It gives you access to the best tutors across the UK, not just those who live locally. With features like recorded sessions that your child can re-watch, it offers a flexible and powerful way to learn. It's why over 200,000 students have used Tutorful to help them succeed.
How much does a German tutor cost?
It's very quick. You can browse tutors, send them a message, and book your first lesson in just a few clicks. Many tutors can start within a couple of days, so your child can get the support they need right away.
