Helpful Geography tutor
Hi there! My name is Rohan and I currently tutor Maths, Economics and Geography, all of which I studied at A level. I’m now studying International Development with Economics at uni and I am in my third year. I did Geography and Maths at GCSE too, and achieved grade 9s in them. (Economics wasn’t offered as a GCSE at my school). I’ve tutored these subjects for over 4 years now and hope to be of help to you too! I am quite familiar with exam boards such as CIE, OCR, Edexcel, AQA etc. as I once was a student studying for those same boards. I know it can often be daunting as a student to ask for help ...

Richard H
Richard has been very helpful in the lead up to my A-Level Geography mocks - in 3 sessions we went over potential exam questions for the whole of the physical paper and the way he explains what the question is asking and the concepts within the specification is really useful! The way he teaches makes him easy to understand and to remember what he has said even after leaving the session! I would recommend him to anyone at any level of Geography as he is so clear and encouraging.

Lizzie M
Lizzie has been fantastic for my daughter and tutoring on Geography A Level 2nd year. She has supported her with specific topic work that she found tricky to grasp at school, followed by exam techniques and questions. Lizzie has given my daughter more confidence and motivation on this subject and has built a strong rapport quickly. She is very nurturing and approachable. I’ve seen the detailed feedback she gives on all the homework and is always prompt with marking, feedback and very organised. Lizzie can also support on any coursework feedback which we also did. I would highly recommend Lizzie for tutoring .

Brilliant Geography tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child is at the Isle of Wight College. Can an online tutor really help them compete for a place at a university like Southampton or Portsmouth?
Absolutely. That's precisely where our tutors excel. We connect students in the Isle of Wight with tutors who are specialists in A-Level exam boards and have experience helping students secure places at Russell Group universities. They provide the targeted exam technique and broader syllabus knowledge to complement local teaching and build a truly competitive university application.
Can a tutor help my child use their knowledge of the Isle of Wight's geography to their advantage?
Yes, this is a huge strength of one-to-one tutoring. A great tutor can show your child how to frame their local knowledge of the island's coastline, tourism, or its Biosphere status within the specific marking criteria of their exam board, turning personal experience into high-scoring, unique answers.
Is online tutoring as effective as finding someone in person on the island?
We believe it's even more effective. Online tutoring gives your child access to a much wider pool of specialist A-Level tutors from across the UK, not just whoever is available locally. With interactive whiteboards, screen sharing, and recorded sessions, it's a focused and flexible way to learn from the very best, all from the comfort of home.
What if my child doesn't click with their first Geography tutor?
It's really important that your child has a great relationship with their tutor. If the first session isn't a perfect fit, please email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover the cost of your first lesson with a new tutor. Your satisfaction is our priority.
How are your tutors vetted?
We have a rigorous selection process. Every tutor is interviewed by a member of our team, has their ID and qualifications checked, and must provide professional references. We only accept 1 in 8 tutors who apply, so you can be sure you're choosing from the UK's best.
What exam boards (AQA, Edexcel etc.) do your Geography tutors cover?
Our tutors cover all major UK exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel, OCR, and WJEC. You can filter for tutors with specific experience in your child's exam board right on their profile, ensuring they get the most relevant support possible.
Can a tutor also help with the UCAS personal statement for a Geography degree?
Many of our tutors have extensive experience in this area. They can help your child structure their personal statement, articulate their passion for the subject, and showcase their skills and knowledge in a way that will appeal to university admissions tutors. Just check the tutors' profiles for this expertise.
How much do online Geography lessons cost for a student in the Isle of Wight?
Our tutors set their own prices based on their experience and qualifications. Prices for A-Level Geography tutoring typically start from around £30 per hour. You can see each tutor's exact rate on their profile, so you can find an expert who fits your budget.
Do you offer tutoring for other subjects besides Geography?
Yes, we offer tutoring in over 300 subjects. Whether it's Maths and English for GCSEs, another A-Level subject to support their university application, or even learning a new skill like coding or a musical instrument, we have expert tutors ready to help.
How flexible are the lesson times?
Extremely flexible. That's one of the biggest benefits of online tutoring. You can arrange sessions for evenings, weekends, or during school holidays – whatever works best for your family's schedule. You and the tutor agree on times that work for both of you.
What do we need for an online lesson?
It's very simple. All your child needs is a laptop or computer with a webcam and microphone, and a stable internet connection. Our platform has a built-in video classroom with an interactive whiteboard, making online learning seamless and engaging.
Can a tutor also help with the UCAS personal statement for a Geography degree?
Definitely. Building a strong foundation at GCSE is the best way to prepare for A-Level success and beyond. A tutor can help fill any gaps, build confidence, and develop the core skills that will make the transition to sixth form much smoother.
