Creative French tutor
I am a Royal Holloway, University London graduate with a BA and MA, specialising in arts and humanities. I am very keen to help pupils to learn and fully understand what they might not get in a classroom environment. Whilst at school and even at university, I had one-on-one help and I would not have got the grades if it was not for this extra help. That is why I want to help those who may need the extra help to get the grades they want.I did my A levels at a school as opposed to a college and this gave me the experience to work with the lower parts of the school (junior and senior). I would help...

’ve had a really great experience learning French with Sandrine. She listens to my needs and adapts lessons to suit what I want to work on, which helps a lot. She’s supportive, patient, and never makes me feel like I’m not good enough, which has really built my confidence. I’d definitely recommend her, especially for A-level French students.

Genevieve M
Genevieve is a fantastic tutor. She is extremely engaging to learn from, explaining everything very patiently and clearly, and she has a really good sense of humour. I’m particularly impressed by the effort she puts in to prepare extra learning materials for me between classes based on the specifics of what I struggled with in the previous lesson. I really didn’t expect that level of additional work from her, it’s so thoughtful and helpful. I intend to be learning French up to conversational fluency so I need many, many hours of teaching, and I am therefore very glad I chose Genevieve to deliver them as she makes the time fly by.

Brilliant French tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child goes to AKS Lytham. Can a tutor help them keep up with the school's high expectations?
Absolutely. Many parents in Lytham St Annes come to us for this very reason. Our tutors are experienced in supporting students from academically demanding schools. They can create a personalised learning plan that reinforces what's being taught in class, helps plug any gaps, and builds your child's confidence to excel, not just keep up.
We're worried about getting the right French grade for sixth form. Can a tutor help?
Yes, this is one of the most common reasons parents seek our help. A tutor can focus specifically on the areas of the French curriculum your child finds most challenging, helping them secure the grades needed for their chosen sixth form. For GCSEs, we often see students improve their results by up to two grades.
What if my child doesn't click with their first French tutor?
We know how important the right fit is. That's why we have our First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your first tutor for any reason, just email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
Is this just for school subjects, or can my child learn other skills?
While we have fantastic tutors for core academic subjects like French, we also offer support in a huge range of other areas! Whether your child wants to learn to play the guitar, get started with coding, or even learn a new language for fun, we have expert tutors who can help.
How do I pick the best French tutor for my child?
You can read detailed tutor profiles, watch introductory videos, and check ratings and reviews from other parents. We recommend shortlisting a few tutors and sending them a message to discuss your child's specific needs before booking. This helps you find the perfect match.
How much does online French tutoring cost?
Our tutors set their own hourly rates, which are displayed clearly on their profiles. Prices vary based on the tutor's experience and qualifications. You can easily filter tutors by price to find an expert who fits your budget.
How does the online classroom work?
Our online classroom is designed to be simple and effective. It has video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and a space to share documents. Your child and their tutor can work through French grammar exercises, practise speaking, and review homework together, just as they would in person.
How do you ensure tutors are safe and qualified?
Your child's safety is our top priority. We interview every tutor and they must all have a valid DBS check. We also verify their ID and qualifications. We're very selective and only accept 1 in 8 tutors who apply, so you can be sure your child is in safe, expert hands.
How long is a typical tutoring session?
Most sessions last for one hour, which is usually the perfect amount of time to cover a topic in detail without your child losing focus. However, you can arrange different session lengths with your tutor to suit your child's needs and schedule.
Can tutoring really help with my child's confidence?
Yes, it often makes the biggest difference. The one-to-one attention from a patient and encouraging tutor creates a safe space for your child to ask questions they might be too shy to ask in class. As they start to understand difficult topics, their confidence grows naturally.
How often should my child have a lesson?
Most students have one session per week, as this consistency helps to build momentum and reinforce learning. However, the schedule is completely flexible. You might want more frequent lessons in the run-up to an exam, or less frequent top-up sessions. You can discuss what's best with your tutor.
How does the online classroom work?
Every lesson is tailored to your child. It might start with a quick review of the previous session, then move onto a new topic like a specific verb tense or vocabulary theme. The tutor might use the interactive whiteboard to break down grammar rules, share resources for practice, and spend time on conversational skills to prepare for oral exams.
