Kathy F
Creative French tutor
I am a Royal Holloway, University London graduate with a BA and MA, specialising in arts and humanities. I am very keen to help pupils to learn and fully understand what they might not get in a classroom environment. Whilst at school and even at university, I had one-on-one help and I would not have got the grades if it was not for this extra help. That is why I want to help those who may need the extra help to get the grades they want.I did my A levels at a school as opposed to a college and this gave me the experience to work with the lower parts of the school (junior and senior). I would help...

Dedicated French tutor
I currently don't have space for going to people's houses, however, for parents wanting to keep their children's learning up to date who are currently undergoing quarantine/the schools have shut down, I am willing to use the online school in order to fulfill lessons if that's what you are looking for. Willing to do a wide range of subjects, and with experience of over two years as a private tutor at GCSE, I can honestly say I love my work. I have experience with two students of 15 and 16 who since my employment have done very well in their exams. I am enthusiastic about all the subjects I teach,...
’ve had a really great experience learning French with Sandrine. She listens to my needs and adapts lessons to suit what I want to work on, which helps a lot. She’s supportive, patient, and never makes me feel like I’m not good enough, which has really built my confidence. I’d definitely recommend her, especially for A-level French students.

Genevieve M
Genevieve is a fantastic tutor. She is extremely engaging to learn from, explaining everything very patiently and clearly, and she has a really good sense of humour. I’m particularly impressed by the effort she puts in to prepare extra learning materials for me between classes based on the specifics of what I struggled with in the previous lesson. I really didn’t expect that level of additional work from her, it’s so thoughtful and helpful. I intend to be learning French up to conversational fluency so I need many, many hours of teaching, and I am therefore very glad I chose Genevieve to deliver them as she makes the time fly by.

Brilliant French tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child is aiming for Lancaster Royal Grammar or LGGS. Can a tutor help them achieve the top grades needed?
Yes, absolutely. Our tutors are experienced in helping students aim for top grades like 8s and 9s at GCSE. They can create a tailored plan that focuses on strengthening weak areas and building the confidence your child needs to perform their best in a competitive school environment.
My child hopes to study at Lancaster University. Can a tutor help strengthen their application with a top French A-Level grade?
Definitely. A strong A-Level grade in a language can make a university application stand out. Our tutors can provide in-depth support to help your child master complex topics, refine their analytical skills, and build the fluency needed to secure a top grade for their application to Lancaster University or other competitive courses.
How do I choose the right French tutor for my child?
It's easy to find the perfect match. You can browse tutor profiles, read reviews from other parents, and watch their introductory videos. We recommend messaging a few tutors to discuss your child's goals before booking a lesson to ensure you find someone you're both comfortable with.
How can I be sure the tutors are high quality?
We take your child's safety and education very seriously. We interview every tutor and only accept 1 in 8 applicants. All our tutors are background-checked, so you can have complete peace of mind that your child is in safe, expert hands.
How do the online lessons work?
Our online classroom has everything your child needs for a great lesson, including video chat, a shared whiteboard, and a space to upload documents. It's a simple, secure, and effective way for your child to learn from the comfort of home.
How much does French tutoring cost in Lancaster?
Our tutors set their own rates, with prices starting from £20 per hour. You can filter your search by price to find a brilliant, experienced tutor who fits your family's budget. There are no hidden fees or contracts.
What if we don't get on with the first tutor we choose?
We want to make sure you find the perfect fit, which is why we have our First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How can tutoring help my child's confidence in French?
One-to-one lessons provide a safe space for your child to ask questions without fear of being judged by their peers. A tutor can go at your child's pace, celebrating small wins and breaking down difficult topics, which is a fantastic way to build their self-belief.
How long are the lessons and how often should we have them?
Lessons are typically one hour long. Most families find that one session a week works well for consistent progress, but you can arrange a schedule that best suits your child's needs and your family's routine directly with your tutor.
Can a tutor help with specific parts of the French GCSE, like the speaking exam?
Yes, that's one of the biggest benefits of one-to-one tutoring. The tutor can dedicate entire sessions to whatever your child needs most, whether it's practising conversations for their oral exam, mastering complex grammar, or improving their essay writing skills.
Is this just for school subjects, or can my child learn other skills?
While we love helping with academic subjects, we also have amazing tutors for a huge range of other skills! Your child could learn to play the guitar, get into coding with Python, or even pick up a new language just for fun.
What if we don't get on with the first tutor we choose?
We're trusted by thousands of parents across the UK, with a 4.6-star rating from over 4,100 reviews. We focus on matching your child with a tutor who not only has expert knowledge but also the right teaching style to help them thrive. Join over 200,000 happy students who have found success with us.
