I am also DBS checked. Living in England for over 35 years I have been a language tutor for the last 20 years teaching both Adults and Children who are either studying for exams or want to learn or improve their language skills. Bonjour!:)I am a native French speaker and a fully qualified teacher with 26 years experience of teaching in schools and privately. I am also a GCSE examiner each year and I used to be a AS level examiner for AQA too. I teach the right accent: this is part of how you can become a confident speaker and an efficient listener.I also explain how verbs and grammar work and help you practice with relevant, interesting resources. It's easier to learn if you understand the rules and the tricks. You then become more confident and try more and memorize better.I use various teaching methods according to each...

My family and I have now returned to the UKafter more than 12 years of living and working in Paris. In fact, both my children were born in Paris. I am keen to maintain their level in French so regularly tutor...

Genevieve M
Genevieve is a fantastic tutor. She is extremely engaging to learn from, explaining everything very patiently and clearly, and she has a really good sense of humour. I’m particularly impressed by the effort she puts in to prepare extra learning materials for me between classes based on the specifics of what I struggled with in the previous lesson. I really didn’t expect that level of additional work from her, it’s so thoughtful and helpful. I intend to be learning French up to conversational fluency so I need many, many hours of teaching, and I am therefore very glad I chose Genevieve to deliver them as she makes the time fly by.

Brilliant French tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child is at Frome College. Can a tutor help them get the grades needed to compete with students from Bath schools?
Absolutely. This is a common goal for parents we work with. A private tutor can create a focused plan to fill any knowledge gaps, build on what's taught in school, and stretch your child's abilities. They can provide the dedicated attention needed to help your child achieve the top grades that will make their university applications competitive.
We're aiming for a Russell Group university. How can a French tutor help with that?
A top grade in a language like French is highly respected by Russell Group universities. Our tutors, many of whom are graduates from these top universities themselves, understand what's required. They can help your child develop the deeper analytical and linguistic skills needed to secure an A or A*, making their application much stronger.
How do I choose the right French tutor for my child?
It's a personal choice, and we make it easy to find the right fit. You can watch introductory videos, read reviews from other parents, and send messages to tutors before booking. We recommend finding someone your child will connect with, as that relationship is key to building their confidence.
What if my child doesn't click with their first French tutor?
We understand that finding the right personality match is important. That's why we have a first lesson guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How much does online French tutoring cost?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications. Tutors set their own hourly rates, which are clearly displayed on their profiles. This transparency allows you to find an experienced, high-quality tutor who fits your budget.
How can I be sure the tutors are qualified and safe?
Your child's safety is our top priority. Every tutor is identity and background checked before they can join our platform. We are also very selective, accepting only 1 in every 8 tutors who apply, so you can be sure you're choosing from the very best.
My child has lost their confidence in French. Can a tutor help?
Yes, this is one of the most powerful benefits of one-to-one tutoring. In a supportive, patient environment, your child can ask questions without feeling embarrassed. A great tutor will celebrate small wins and build their self-belief, which often has a huge impact on their grades.
How does online tutoring actually work?
It's simple! All lessons take place in our purpose-built online classroom. It has video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and document sharing tools, making it feel just like they're in the same room. All your child needs is a laptop or computer and a stable internet connection.
How quickly will we see an improvement in our child's results?
Every child learns at their own pace, but our tailored approach is designed for progress. In fact, 90% of our students improve by at least one grade. The biggest change parents often notice first is a boost in their child's confidence and enjoyment of the subject.
Can we get help with specific things like GCSE French exam preparation?
Of course. Our tutors are brilliant at focusing on specific goals. Whether it's preparing for mock exams, practising oral questions, or refining exam technique for the final papers, your tutor can create a plan targeted at achieving the best possible GCSE result.
Do you only offer academic subjects, or could my child learn something like guitar or coding?
While we're well known for academic subjects like French, Maths, and English, we also have talented tutors who teach a wide range of hobbies and skills. From learning to play the guitar or piano to getting started with coding, there's a huge variety of subjects to explore.
My child has lost their confidence in French. Can a tutor help?
Every lesson is different because it's tailored to your child. A session might start with a quick review of the previous week's topic, then move on to tackling a new grammar concept your child finds tricky. It could also involve practising conversation skills or working through past exam papers together. The tutor will adapt the plan based on your child's progress and goals.
