Jessica is so incredibly patient with my son. She breaks down lessons as small as possible in order for my son to understand her easily. Though my son is always very distracted, Jessica is able to work around it and consistently quiz him in order for him to remember and retain information. She is a hard worker and incredibly skilled. Brilliant English tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child wants to go to Paston College. Can a tutor help them get the specific English grade they need?
Absolutely. Our tutors are experienced in helping students meet specific grade requirements for college entry. They can focus on the key areas of the GCSE syllabus needed to secure a grade 6 or higher, giving your child the best possible chance of getting into their chosen provider, like Paston College.
Many of our local schools, like Sheringham High, have specific curriculum focuses. Can tutors tailor lessons to this?
Yes. While our tutors are experts in the national curriculum, they will work with your child to understand the specific topics, texts, and exam boards covered at their school. This ensures the tutoring directly supports their classroom learning.
What if my child doesn't click with their first tutor?
We know that the right personal connection is key to learning. That's why we have our First Lesson Guarantee. If you feel the first tutor isn't the right fit for any reason, just email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover the cost of your first session with a new tutor.
How do I choose the right English tutor for my child?
You can read detailed tutor profiles, watch introductory videos, and check reviews from other parents. We recommend looking for a tutor whose experience matches your child's specific needs, whether that's GCSE exam technique or building foundational reading skills. You can also message tutors beforehand to ensure they're a good fit.
My child has lost all confidence in English. Can a tutor really help with that?
Yes, this is one of the biggest benefits of one-to-one tutoring. A great tutor creates a safe, encouraging space where your child can ask questions without fear of judgement. By breaking down difficult topics and celebrating small wins, they help rebuild self-esteem, which often has a positive impact in the school classroom too.
How does online tutoring actually work?
It's simple and secure. All lessons take place in our purpose-built online classroom, which includes a video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and a space to share documents. All your child needs is a laptop or computer and a stable internet connection.
Are all your tutors background-checked?
Your child's safety is our top priority. Every tutor on our platform has passed an identity check and has a valid DBS background check. We also interview every tutor and only accept 1 in 8 applicants, so you can be sure your child is learning from the best.
How much does an online English tutor cost?
Tutor prices vary based on their experience and qualifications. You can see each tutor's hourly rate clearly on their profile, with no hidden costs or subscriptions. This transparency allows you to find an excellent tutor who fits your family's budget.
How many lessons will my child need to see an improvement?
This really varies from student to student. Some students need a few focused sessions to prepare for an exam, while others benefit from regular weekly support throughout the school year. The best approach is to discuss your child's goals with your chosen tutor, and they can recommend a plan.
Can a tutor help with both English Language and English Literature GCSEs?
Yes, many of our English tutors are specialists in both GCSE English Language and English Literature. They can help your child with everything from analysing poetry and novels to mastering grammar and persuasive writing techniques. You can see their specific areas of expertise on their profiles.
Is tutoring only for core subjects, or can my child learn other skills like coding?
Tutorful is for much more than just school subjects! We have expert tutors across hundreds of areas, from hobbies like learning the guitar or photography, to professional skills like coding and public speaking. It's all about helping people pursue their passions.
What makes Tutorful different from other tutoring platforms?
We focus on finding the perfect match for your child. With our high standards for tutors (we only accept 1 in 8), a 4.6-star rating from over 4,100 reviews, and a dedicated online classroom, we provide a trusted, supportive, and effective learning experience tailored to your child's individual needs.
