Find an expert English tutor in East Sussex

My target grade for GCSE English Literature at the start of Year 11 was a 5, but I ended up getting an 8 (1 mark off a 9). This tutor is beyond helpful and capable of tutoring. His own experience as an author and poet speaks for itself. I tried many tutors before finding Mr. Richard and it was a great pleasure having his expertise guide me throughout my chaotic revision. Highly recommended. 6/5 stars

⸻ As a Year 11 student preparing for my mocks and GCSEs I just had my first English lesson with Beth and it was an absolute success! She answered all my questions clearly and made me feel so much more comfortable with the material. Compared to previous tutors Beth truly stands out. She explains even the most challenging concepts in a simple way and encourages active participation which keeps the lessons lively and interesting. Her calm and talkative approach makes learning easy and enjoyable. I highly recommend her to anyone who’s not confident with English or is stressed about exams. John has recently commenced tutoring our English and Turkish bilingual son in preparation for the 10+ exams. While our son possesses exceptional verbal abilities, he struggles with ADHD and not much of a reader as the generation dictates. John has swiftly assumed the role of a guiding force, providing him with the appropriate content and strategic call-to-actions that effectively address his weaknesses and maintain his engagement and interest in online sessions, despite my son’s challenges with online learning. John’s teaching experience is exceptional, coupled with his excellent communication skills. He skillfully balances progress with homework, which has begun to yield positive results. Our son has much better understanding in inferences, is enthusiastic about composing free writing on his chosen themes, aiming to employ more comprehensive methods and incorporate enriched adverbs and adjectives. We anticipate that this effort and dedication will lead to his achieving his desired academic goals, while John will continue to excel in English language proficiency and future literary endeavors.

My son is really enjoying his sessions and although we have only just started he is keen to do more. He already feels they are benefiting him in not only English, but in the way he answers questions in his other subjects as well.

Janet is very patient, experienced and knowledgeable. I am so glad to see the good progress in my child's writing applying the techniques taught by Janet. Besides, she was flexible and supportive to adjust our lesson topics (e.g. comprehension) to help my child prepare better for the 11+ test.

Lee has helped me so much with my understanding of gcse English. The way he teaches is not only engaging but helpful in many ways also he incorporate his students interests into his teaching styles to create a much more freeing environment and also teach in a way which relates more to his students. Because of Lee I am much more confident in English bot literature and language and I would recommend him a lot

My son has been taking Mr. Greg's lessons for over 6 years and has found them useful throughout his primary and secondary school curriculum. He helped my son pass eleven plus with higher standards.
