Megan G
Megan is a wonderful tutor!
My son has really enjoyed the sessions with her and she adapts them to ensure he is fully understanding the teaching.
Megan provides an overview of feedback after to each session which allows me to understand what she has covered in the session and how to future support my son.
I cannot recommend her enough!!

Harry L
Our son has dyslexia and had taken his GCSE English several times without passing. He was demoralized with the whole process. We had 6 weeks before the next attempt and we were lucky enough to find Harry. He said that in his first lesson with him he had learnt more about exam technique than he had in all of his GCSE lessons. Today he got a grade 5 which seemed impossible before Harry's tutor sessions. Thankyou very much Harry, our family is extremely grateful for your particular teaching skills and supporting our son to success.

Amazing tutor! I went from a weak grade 3 in English Language to being just one mark off a 6. Lessons were clear, supportive, and really boosted my confidence. I couldn’t have done it without their help and would 100% recommend.

My child is preparing for the Transfer Test for a Belfast grammar school. Can a tutor help?
Yes, absolutely. Many of our English tutors have specific experience helping children in County Antrim prepare for the Transfer Test. They can build a programme of support that focuses on the specific English and literacy skills your child will need, working at their pace to build both their ability and their confidence before the exam.
We're hoping for Queen's University Belfast. Can a tutor help with the English skills needed for a competitive application?
Definitely. A strong A-Level English grade is often a key requirement for competitive courses. Our tutors can provide dedicated support to help your child master complex texts, hone their essay-writing skills, and achieve the grades they need. They can also be a great help in drafting a compelling personal statement that showcases their strengths.
How do I choose the right English tutor for my child?
Every tutor has a detailed profile where you can see their experience, qualifications, and reviews from other parents. You can watch their introductory video to get a feel for their personality and even send them a message before booking to discuss your child's needs. It's all about finding the best fit for your family.
My child's confidence in English is low. How can a tutor help?
This is one of the most common reasons parents seek a tutor. A one-to-one setting provides a safe, encouraging space for your child to ask questions without fear of judgement. Our tutors are brilliant at building rapport and celebrating small wins, which can make a huge difference to your child's self-esteem.
What if we don't click with the first tutor?
if you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How do I know the tutors are qualified and safe?
Your child's safety is our top priority. Every tutor is background-checked and we interview every applicant, accepting only 1 in 8. We also have a 4.6-star rating from over 4,100 reviews, so you can feel confident you're choosing from the best tutors across the UK.
How much does an online English tutor cost?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications. You can easily filter tutors by price on our search page to find someone who fits your budget. There are no hidden fees or long-term contracts; you simply pay as you go for the lessons you book.
What happens in a typical online English lesson?
Lessons take place in our purpose-built online classroom, which features a video chat and an interactive whiteboard. Tutors and students can share files, draw diagrams, and work through problems together in real-time. It’s a dynamic and engaging way for your child to learn.
How often should my child have lessons?
It's completely flexible and depends on your child's goals. Many families start with a weekly lesson to build momentum, especially when preparing for exams like GCSEs. You can discuss what's best with your chosen tutor and adjust the frequency whenever you need to.
Is online tutoring as effective as in-person?
We find it's even more effective for many children. Online lessons remove travel time, use engaging digital tools, and allow your child to learn in a comfortable, familiar environment. Plus, with access to tutors across the UK, you have a much wider choice of experts to find the perfect match.
Do you only offer academic subjects, or could my child learn something like guitar or coding?
While we have fantastic tutors for core subjects like English, Maths, and Science, we also have experts who can teach a huge range of other skills. From learning a musical instrument like the guitar to coding in Python or even mastering a new language, we're here to support all of your child's learning goals.
We need help soon. How quickly can we start?
You can get started very quickly. Simply find a tutor you like, send them a message to confirm their availability, and you could be booking your child's first lesson for as early as today. Many of the 200,000+ happy students who've used Tutorful were able to find the right support right away.
