All Levels of English! KS3, GCSE, FS, A-Level English Language
My lessons will be led by and expertly crafted to you. I bring a wealth of teaching experience from secondary schools, primary schools, university teaching and even teaching in prison; I am yet to meet a learner I cannot inspire and thrive alongside. I had a bumpy start to my educational journey, struggling with reading and writing and I had a general hatred towards education as a whole, truly believing it 'wasn't for me'. Fast forward, and I found the recipe for achieving 12 A-A* GCSE'S, 4 A-A* A-Levels and a BA and MA from the University of Cambridge. I will help you find your learning style,...

Leigh worked with our teenage son to prepare for his English Language iGCSE. With only a short time before the exam, they quickly developed a constructive rapport. Leigh was quickly able to assess where our son ‘was at’ in terms of his readiness for that exam. Over just a few sessions, analysis and writing skills were imparted and developed that meant our son felt prepared. Moreover, our son so enjoyed the way Leigh worked and his obvious passion for and skills in language analysis, that he chose to continue language analysis sessions just for the fun of it once the exam was over. A comment our son has made more than once after a session is, ‘I just love learning!’ The exam was passed really well – the outcome we hoped would be possible – but more significantly, we are grateful for Leigh’s ability to really draw out and develop our son’s enjoyment of the English language.

Ihsanur R
Last Year I did not do well in English Language in which I had a Grade 3. With my November resits fast approaching I felt very privileged to have Ihsanur as my tutor. He was able to present lessons in a concise way which helped me understand what went well and what I needed to improve on.
After the November resits I managed to obtain a Grade 4 in English Language AQA. I would really recommend him for those taking the GCSE 2026 because he is committed and dedicated in order to achieve academic potential with pupils. Thanks again Ihsanur for the hard work you do.

I can’t recommend Smita enough! After struggling and retaking my English Language exam twice before she’s the only tutor who has truly managed to teach me in a way that makes everything click. She explains things clearly and in a way that actually makes sense. Smita never made me feel judged for needing extra help. She is an genuinly an incredible tutor who genuinely cares about her students’ progress. I honestly wish I’d found her sooner! I can’t thank her enough for helping me. :)

Flora I
Flora has been helping Isla prepare for her English Literature and English Language GCSE exams. From the first lesson, Flora “clicked” with Isla and quickly understood her needs. She made Isla feel comfortable and pinpointed areas for development and was so supportive. Isla felt at ease and could ask questions knowing that the necessary time would be taken to help her understand. Flora was incredibly accommodating, adjusting lesson times and dates as needed. She was also very responsive to messages and promptly returned marked work, going above and beyond to support us. Isla’s work was annotated and marked, providing valuable feedback and areas for future focus, which has been invaluable. Flora’s passion for the subject shone through, thank you so much Flora!

Brilliant English Language tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
Can a tutor specifically help my child prepare for the Kent Test?
Absolutely. Many of our English Language tutors specialise in 11+ and entrance exam preparation. They understand the specific demands of the Kent Test, including the English, comprehension, and verbal reasoning sections, and can create a tailored plan to build your child's skills and confidence ahead of the exam.
We're aiming for a grammar school like Dartford Grammar or The Judd School. Can you help?
Yes. Whilst we can't guarantee entry, our tutors can provide the focused support needed to help your child perform at their very best. They can work on the specific skills and exam techniques required for these highly competitive schools, helping to close any knowledge gaps and build confidence for exam day.
Is online tutoring as effective as in-person for something so important?
We believe it’s even better. Online tutoring gives your child in Kent access to the best 11+ specialists from across the UK, not just whoever lives nearby. With interactive whiteboards, shared resources and a focused learning environment at home, it’s just as personal and effective, but with far more flexibility and choice.
What happens if we don't get on with the first English tutor we try?
It's so important that your child clicks with their tutor, so we make this easy. If the first session isn't the perfect fit, just email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover the cost of your first lesson with a new tutor. It's our First Lesson Guarantee.
How do you ensure your tutors are high quality?
We're very selective. Only 1 in 8 tutors who apply make it onto our platform. Every tutor is interviewed, background-checked, and has their qualifications verified. We look for experienced, passionate educators who know how to make learning engaging.
How much does online English Language tutoring cost?
Our tutors set their own hourly rates, typically starting from £15 per hour. You can filter tutors by price on our website to find an expert who fits your budget. There are no hidden fees or long-term contracts.
My child also loves creative writing. Do you offer help with that?
Yes, definitely! Tutoring isn't just for exams. Many of our English tutors are passionate about creative writing and can help your child explore their imagination, develop stories, and build their confidence as a writer, completely separate from their school curriculum.
How flexible are the lesson times?
Extremely flexible. You can arrange sessions for evenings, weekends, or during school holidays – whatever works best for your family's schedule. You agree on times directly with your tutor, making it easy to fit lessons around clubs, sports, and other commitments.
What technology do we need for online lessons?
It's very simple. All you need is a laptop or computer with a webcam, a microphone, and a stable internet connection. Our online classroom is built into our website, so there's no complex software to download.
Can a tutor help with GCSE and A-Level English later on?
Of course. Many of our tutors support students right through their school journey. Building a strong foundation now can make a huge difference for their future GCSE and A-Level studies in both English Language and English Literature.
How long are the tutoring sessions?
The standard session length is one hour, which we find is perfect for maintaining focus and making real progress. However, you can discuss different session lengths with your tutor if you feel your child would benefit from something different.
Are there tutors who understand Kent's literary connections, like Dickens?
Many of our English tutors have a deep love for literature and its history. While they aren't based in Kent, they can certainly incorporate local literary heritage, like the works of Charles Dickens, into lessons to make the subject more vivid and relatable for your child.
