Hi, I’m a Master’s graduate in Biomedical Science from the University of Glasgow, and I’m passionate about helping students achieve their academic goals in a way that’s both fun and effective.Growing up, I found school challenging—balancing coursework with extracurricular activities made it difficult to maintain high grades. However, once I reached university, I developed better study strategies that helped me excel and achieve top marks. This experience has shaped my approach to tutoring: I focus on understanding concepts, not just memorizing theory. I believe that when students grasp the why b...

Friendly Chemistry tutor
I am friendly tutor who is enthusiastic about science. My aim as a tutor is to get students to be excited about learning. I teach in a discussion/question and answer based method to help boost those critical thinking skills. A typical session would start by reviewing the aims of the session (which content to learn) move into a discussion of the content, with aims of also linking the content back to society. I believe it helps people to learn and recall information if they can think of where it’s used/why it would be useful to learn that information. At the end of the session we will evaluate w...

Rohan is very clear with explanations and makes the content very understandable.
He also gives helpful tips for how to answer exam questions.
And also prepares content and work before the lesson and provides insightful feedback after the lesson, so I know what I should go through afterwards and what I should work on.
His rates are also much more competitive compared to other tutors so would recommend!

Feba A
Feba is a fantastic tutor, greatly improving my understanding of both biology and chemistry. She takes time on topics I struggle with and tailors her lesson around them, often creating presentations to help me understand the material better. She explains concepts in biology and chemistry thoroughly and always encourages curiosity. I have never felt discouraged to ask questions.
Furthermore, she has gone out of her way to support me beyond lessons including helping with my university reference which is incredibly helpful as a private A-level candidate. She’s flexible and understanding with lesson times accommodating to your schedule. Overall, her support is consistent, genuine and above what I expected from a tutor. Could not recommend more!

Can a Chemistry tutor help my child get into a Russell Group university like Newcastle or Durham?
Absolutely. Many parents in South Shields share your ambition for their child to attend a top university. Our Chemistry tutors are experienced in helping students bridge the gap from GCSE to A-Level, refine their understanding of complex topics like organic synthesis or spectroscopy, and develop the exam techniques needed to achieve those crucial A* grades that competitive Russell Group courses in Medicine or Engineering often require. They can also help with personal statements and university applications.
How can online Chemistry tutoring benefit my child in South Shields?
Online Chemistry tutoring means your child in South Shields can access highly qualified, specialist tutors from across the UK, not just those available locally. This opens up a wider choice of experts who can tailor lessons to your child's specific needs, whether they're struggling with a particular topic or aiming for top grades to pursue a STEM career in the region. It also offers incredible flexibility, fitting around your family's busy schedule without the need for travel.
Is tutoring just for school subjects, or can my child learn other skills?
While we excel in academic subjects like Chemistry, Maths, and English, Tutorful also offers a wide range of tutors for other skills. Your child could learn to code in Python, play the guitar, improve their photography, or even gain support for a specific hobby or personal development goal. Just search for the skill you're looking for!
What if my child doesn't get on with their Chemistry tutor?
We want you and your child to feel comfortable and confident with your tutor. That's why we offer a First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How do I pick the best Chemistry tutor for my child?
We make it easy to find the perfect match. You can browse our Chemistry tutors' profiles, read about their experience, qualifications, and teaching styles, and see reviews from other parents. We encourage you to send a message to a few tutors to discuss your child's specific needs and goals before booking a first session. Remember, we only accept 1 in 8 tutors who apply, so you're choosing from the best.
How much does Chemistry tutoring cost?
The cost of Chemistry tutoring varies depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications, but you'll find prices clearly listed on each tutor's profile. We believe in transparency, so there are no hidden fees. You only pay for the lessons your child takes, and many tutors offer discounts for block bookings. You'll find options to suit different budgets.
How can a Chemistry tutor help my child build confidence?
A huge part of one-to-one tutoring is confidence building. When your child receives personalised attention, they feel more comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Their tutor will celebrate small victories, explain concepts in ways that click for them, and help them master challenging topics, like balancing redox reactions, which naturally boosts their self-belief in Chemistry and beyond. This tailored support is incredibly empowering.
What qualifications do your Chemistry tutors have?
Our Chemistry tutors come with a range of impressive qualifications, from university degrees in Chemistry and related fields to teaching qualifications and extensive experience in the classroom or as professional tutors. We carefully vet all our tutors, ensuring they not only have the subject expertise but also the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and inspire your child. You can see each tutor's specific qualifications on their profile.
How does online Chemistry tutoring work?
It's really straightforward! Your child connects with their tutor through our interactive online classroom, which features a virtual whiteboard, document sharing, and video chat. They can see and hear their tutor, work through problems together, and even revisit recordings of past lessons. It's designed to be just as effective, if not more so, than in-person tutoring, all from the comfort of your home in South Shields.
Can a Chemistry tutor help with specific exams like GCSE or A-Level?
Absolutely. Our Chemistry tutors are highly experienced in preparing students for specific exams, whether it's GCSE, A-Level, or even university entrance exams. They can cover specific exam board content, practice past papers, teach effective revision strategies, and help your child master key exam techniques, such as interpreting data or structuring extended answers, to maximise their grades and chances of success.
How quickly will my child see progress with Chemistry tutoring?
While every child is different, many parents tell us they see improvements in their child's confidence and understanding after just a few sessions. Our data shows that 90% of students improve by at least one grade, and for GCSE Chemistry, many see an improvement of up to 2 grades. Consistent, tailored support truly makes a difference in building knowledge and skills over time.
How can a Chemistry tutor help my child build confidence?
Yes, absolutely. Your child's safety is our top priority. Every single tutor on Tutorful, including our Chemistry specialists, undergoes a thorough vetting process. This includes identity verification, qualification checks, and an enhanced DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) to ensure they are safe and suitable to work with children. We only accept the best – just 1 in 8 applicants make it through our rigorous process.
