I teach Maths up to GCSE Higher Level and I am very familiar with the conventional GCSE and iGCSE syllabuses and exam style as well as with Functional Skills, Maths at Levels 1 and 2.
I specialise in tutoring students with dyslexia, dyscalculia and autistic spectrum disorders. Many of these students have good spatial skills and these can used as a useful route into understanding maths concepts. I also enjoy the challenge of teaching those approaching their Higher Level GCSE who may be aspiring to go on to do Maths A'Level .
I have a good deal of experience teaching children from 10-11 (Year 6) up to their early 20s. This includes teaching for Common Entrance (13+), GCSE, iGCSE and Functional Skills Levels 1 and 2.
I work as a volunteer at "The Rendezvous", the Youth Resource Centre, in Sherborne so have regular access to up-to-date information regarding Exam Board and syllabus changes as well as other support which is available to young people in the area.
I have 3 sons of my own, 2 of whom have dyslexia and/or autistic spectrum disorders, so I understand and empathise with many concerns parents have about their children's education.
I try various different approaches to engage students in their learning to make it fun and interesting and I work on building self-confidence. I look forward to helping your child to move forward with their Maths.
Would recommend Emma to anyone, she has a lovely caring way with my granddaughter & has helped her understand the maths she finds difficult.
