I am Federica, 28, born and raised in Rome. I am keen on travelling, photography and reading; I can define myself as an eclectic and dynamic person. I moved to Edinburgh few months ago to continue my studies at the University of Edinburgh. I graduated with distinction in Social Anthropology at the Sapienza University of Rome. The roots of my educational background are in high school: I graduated in classical studies (Latin and Ancient Greek Language and Literature, plus Italian Literature and History of Art).
During the last year, I had to prepare myself to gain a high level of English. That is why, as a student, I know how much can be challenging learning a new language. As a teacher, I developed effective methods to overcome these difficulties.
I am a qualified teacher: I have attended a DITALS course at the Torre di Babele School in Rome. Thanks to this course, I could experience teaching to foreign people and deepen my knowledge about the didactics of languages. I specialized teaching Italian to foreigner people with all level of knowledge (from absolute beginner to mastery/proficiency).
The starting point of my lessons is my students: their motivations and needs. I adopt a communicative approach and I think it's important to give equal space to all the four abilities of the language (Speaking, Writing, Listening and Reading). I carefully select the material I use: the Italian should be authentic and suitable to the level of my students.
I cannot praise Federica highly enough. She has become a dear friend as well as a tutor. We have our lessons entirely in Italian. Federica always has some course work for me, as well as conversation. I think I am actually improving -- despite being 84 years old.
Frederica is a fantastic tutor and her lessons are always engaging and varied. She is also a very patient teacher and her lessons are always fun and interactive. Highly recommended!
Federica is an excellent tutor. She has taken time to fully understand my needs as a student. The homework that she sets is always relevant, varied and useful. I feel that in just a few short weeks she has helped me greatly to improve my level of Italian.
