Currently the Vice Principal of a Canterbury-based International Sixth Form College, I offer my knowledge of Economics and Business Studies and University Entrance Advice by tutoring individual learners at home who have high aspirations for success and progression to College or University.
Having tutored privately throughout my 10 year(+) teaching career, I tend to offer sessions to learners who demonstrate an empathy for the struggle of understanding something new and the excitement of 'getting it'. My teaching involves rigorous planning, differentiation and assessment for learning to ensure each session results in accelerated, sustained progress. Students are expected to attend with a workbook and the contents of a standard pencilcase, in addition to the coursebook aligned to the GCSE/A Level/IB specification they are following. I will provide all additional materials. Homework, or relevant research, is usually given to support subsequent sessions.
Further to hourly sessions, I will arrange 1-to-1 'experience days' to The City or other relevant establishments to demonstrate, first hand, the concepts being taught in the specification. In addition, having been a Head of Sixth Form and UCAS/University Admissions Adviser, I can offer bespoke advice for University Applications, including Personal Statements.
