Hi, my name is Stephan. I am a classically trained pianist/teacher, and I have recently completed my undergraduate degree at Birmingham Conservatoire. During my time there, I have vastly improved my technical facility in addition to expanding my knowledge of keyboard repertoire. I have also significantly extended my teaching output during the last two years and I am now available to take aboard additional pupils.
I firmly believe that learning any musical instrument should be an enriching and rewarding experience for every pupil. As a music teacher – and regular performer – I will always emphasise the fact that one should learn the music one loves. Doing so is not only satisfying on a personal level but even more so when you can share that joy with others.
I can teach students ABRSM Grades 1-8, as well as coach experienced pianists in preparation for concerts, competitions, and other similar occasions. I also teach entry-level piano for absolute beginners by utilising tailored lesson plans to suit the needs of the individual. Jazz, Rock, Classical, or Pop – Any genre of your choice can be explored during lessons. I am more than happy to teach at a pupil’s home as long as there is access to a piano/keyboard, however lessons can also be taught at the Library of Birmingham.
If you are a relatively inexperienced musician looking to try something new, or a complete beginner asking yourself “Should I learn to play the piano?”, I can offer you at 4 great reasons to do so:
1. Accessibility – No prior musical experience is required. You can jump right in and start learning right away, with lessons tailored to your current ability.
2. Versatility – Whether your musical interests lean towards Classical, Jazz, Rock or Pop, there will always be repertoire to accommodate your taste in music.
3. Longevity – Learning the piano is skill you will retain for life. The potential to keep growing and improving your skills is endless.
4. ??? – I leave number 4 for the student to decide, as everyone has their own motivations and ambitions that they aim for. Though if you cannot think of one at straight away then perhaps you may discover it during our lessons?
