I am originally from Milan, where I lived until I was 24 and where I studied Languages and Literature at the Universita' Statale. In 1999 I came to the UK and in 2002 I moved to Bristol, where I took a BA in Illustration and started working in parallel as an Italian teacher. I have 15 years of experience teaching Italian in a variety of settings, including language schools, the corporate sector and to private students, from beginner to conversational level. I have also experience in translating, both from English into Italian and from Italian into English.
I think the key to a positive learning experience is for the student to feel motivated, engaged and rewarded. Each one of us enjoys learning in a different way, therefore it is very important for a teacher to be able to pick up each student's learning style and adapt accordingly. I think the most important skills for a teacher are empathy, flexibility and resourcefulness in order to make each student feel engaged.
We are really enjoying our lessons with Valentina. She is happy to tailor the lessons to our needs and makes learning a new language fun. We are hoping to continue until we are fluent.
