My name is Rachael and I have been a fully qualified teacher for 14 years. I have an up to date DBS certificate. I studied English and Drama at Liverpool University and gained my PGCE in Secondary English at Manchester University.
I have taught in mainstream education or privately tutored for; KS3 SATS, GCSE, AS and A2 English Literature for the AQA, WJEC and OCR boards. I have also provided essay writing skills support for undergraduates.
I have experience of providing SEN Support in both Secondary and Primary education with experience of being an amanuensis. I have provided KS2 and KS3 1:1 Support for SATS and Outreach Teaching for an LEA – which included LAC pupils. I have experience of teaching children with dyslexia.
I offer tuition that is specific to you / or your child’s needs. With being an experienced teacher I can quickly identify gaps in knowledge and create tailor made sessions. I believe sessions should be fun! Yet also focused, full of positivity and kindness. I have high expectations of all of my students and as a result I ensure my planning and communication matches those high expectations. I have found that my personal blend of skills is of particular use to those students struggling with drama and poetry.
I am an enthusiastic and friendly teacher, and I have always received the highest praise for my teaching approach and my belief in all student’s ability to improve. I want any student to leave my session feeling more confident about their skills and with a plan for what to do next.
I am always happy to discuss your individual teaching needs to see if I can be of any help.
Please get in touch if you have any questions.
Rachael has been a great help to my son with his GCSE English preparations. She has been very quick to reply to messages and flexible in arranging lessons. She's very professional and friendly and I'm sure my son will benefit hugely from the lessons.
