A quick background summary of me. My undergraduate degree is in Law (obtained 2:1) from the University of Aberdeen, where I was also involved in various societies such as mooting (legal mock trial competitions), fencing and aikido. In terms of my mooting experience I came second in the Commercial Law moot and competed for two years in the Philip C Jessup International Moot competition. As a result I later tutored new and existing students in mooting style, demeanour, legal research techniques and presentation. I was also a founding member of the Rotaract Club of Aberdeen (affiliate of the Rotary Club) where we had an international and local project.
After my bachelor's degree I proceeded to do a masters in International Business at the University of Leeds (obtained distinction overall and distinction on my masters dissertation) because even during my law degree I was passionate about finance and business. The masters expanded on much of my previous knowledge of finance and economic/corporate law, but I also learnt many new skills and enriched my business acumen.
Subsequently, I worked in audit in one of the "big four" accounting firms and sat some of the ACA exams. As a result of this experience I dealt with a wide range of clients from an array of different industries, thus, gaining much knowledge into how businesses operate but also obtaining that discipline and experience from working in a fast paced, mentally stimulating and challenging environment.
Currently, I am pursing a PhD in International Business focusing on quantitative methods and advanced statistical methods for analysis. In the meantime I would like to impart my knowledge and experience to students from all ages in various subjects. I am very passionate about business and research so any potential students looking to go into business, or study a business related subject, should contact me. If you're also looking to gain advice on interview technique, public speaking, job/university applications (covering psychometric tests and general entry tests), I would humbly like to teach you the techniques that I have learnt through mooting and my own experience. Techniques that have worked for me. In addition, if you're just wanting to improve your English as a foreign language, or simply want to enhance your existing repertoire of skills and knowledge, to better prepare yourself for university, dissertations etc., then I will gladly help.
My teaching style will be unique to every student as I want to firstly understand what the student wants to achieve in what time frame and accordingly make a personally tailored plan. The goal from my sessions is to not only address the objective of the student but to also develop critical thinking (where applicable).
Thanks and look forward to hearing from you!
P.S. Some other passions of mine are: playing the piano (mainly classical) and composing music. I've played the piano most of my life and have been composing music for a few years.
