I am currently studying my masters in Biomedical Sciences, and I am looking to broaden my experience before progressing into doctoral training and eventually academia (lecturing).
I have significant experience in a teaching and tutoring role, at all ages (I previously studied a PGCE). As a senior student ambassador for the university, I formally ran events such as zombie survival day (forensic science) and dinosaur digs - I'm all about bringing my subject alive and applying the syllabus to the real world. I adapt quickly to individual learning styles and demands, and I have experience working with SEN (in particular autism).
As a scientist I'm primarily interested in genetics - in particular gene editing for medical applications. For my masters thesis I am aiming to develop an ebola virus vaccine for use in animals, in particular endangered gorillas and other primates.
In addition to my listed subjects, I will tutor the QTS tests and provide specific advice (subject, format, etc) for biology dissertations!
My son has recently started with Ciaran in chemistry (AS-level) and he is delighted by the clarity, friendliness and help provided. Thank you Ciaran, you make a great difference!
Have first lesson today and very happy with his clarification. Looking forward to have more lessons with him.
Ciaran is great. Really approachable and helpful with all aspects. My son is very shy but doesn't find this a problem with ciaran which is a big compliment!
