I studied Medicine at Barts and The Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry and graduated in 2005. I worked as a doctor for 8 years. I specialised in Histopathology (the study of cells and tissues) and worked as a Specialist Trainee in this field for 6 years. I decided to have a career change and re-trained as a teacher, attaining a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) specialising in Biology, a few years ago.
I have since worked in three schools (one Grammar school, one Academy and one Sixth Form College) teaching Science at Key Stage 3 and Biology at Key Stage 4 and A-level. My current place of work is a Sixth Form college and is one of the most successful Sixth form-only centres in the UK. I have taught OCR, AQA and Edexcel science courses.
My speciality is the Human Biology side of the curriculum (for obvious reasons!) and with the content of A-level Biology comprising a great deal of medically-related topics, this is a great advantage for me and those I teach. My histopathology experience particularly comes in handy when teaching histology (a huge amount of microscope work is included in the OCR specification I currently teach), anatomy and physiological body processes.
I am enthusiastic about science, in particular Biology, and feel as though I have the ability to make quite complex processes appear simple. I have a friendly and encouraging manner, with a 100% Good/Outstanding record in lesson observations in my teaching career.
Kirat is a great tutor. She is very enthusiastic and personable. Our son is really enjoying his lessons with her and I'm sure will do well in his GCSE biology
Excellent !! Very friendly and explains things in a way that everything just falls into place ! Can't praise her enough . Looking forward to my next lesson !
My daughter has had a few lessons with Kirat and is certainly felling the benefit. She lives her style of teaching.
