I am an experienced learner mentor and have worked in a variety of different teaching environments, from classroom based to outdoors, state schools to the voluntary sector.
I am keen to engage young people and recognise that standard teacher/pupil arrangements may not be in everyone’s best interest. I consider that a person learns best when they feel empowered and it is this ethos that I work with.
I have extensive experience in identifying need and providing appropriate interventions for people, either in a small group setting or one to one.
As a tutor this will enable us to focus on potentially problematic areas to achieve higher levels and increase learner confidence.
I am comfortable tutoring any subject up to Key Stage 4, apart from highly specialised subjects such as Art, Music and foreign languages.
I can offer tutoring to degree level in Law, Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, UKcat, personal statements, employability and exam/assessment preparation.
A broad range and approach of study skills are also on offer alongside with pastoral support, learner mentoring and homework guidance.
All my tutees have an initial meeting, in conjunction with parent/guardian where appropriate, where we can discuss area needs, learning styles and preferences.
I have a general interest in the mental health sector and I am currently studying for a masters degree in psychology, and I have graduate status to the British Psychological Society. I understand the difficulties and barriers that may be faced by people experiencing mental health difficulties, and I am keen to work alongside supporting and engaging.
If you wish to discuss anything further please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Lee has developed a good rapport with Alice. They are both getting on well at the moment. Alice is currently happy with him. We planned to keep him as her tutor.
