I am an experienced professional guitarist and bass player, and can also teach mandolin and ukulele.
I have a BA(Hons) 2:1 degree in Music, and a Master's with Commendation in Composing, as well as a PGCE. I am also DBS checked, and have 15 years experience teaching instrumentally and at College level on BTEC and Degree programs.
I play bass in several wedding and function bands, and I also play guitar in original band: Ulysses. We released our third album Law and Order in June 2016, to 10 out of 10 reviews from Shindig Magazine, Powerplay and Pop Geek Heaven Magazine, and 9 out of 10 reviews from Classic Rock Magazine, Uberrock Magazine and a host of other international rock press. We have also supported major bands on tour including Dodgy, Reef, The Pretty Things, Rival Sons, Marc Ford (The Black Crowes) and Mike Watt (Iggy Pop and the Stooges, Minutemen), as well as headline tours of Italy and Spain.
I have studied many different musical styles in depth and am happy to let students decide which particular musical avenue they wish to learn about, and equally proficient in playing these styles, from rock to blues, folk, country, and classical.
I can teach Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, or Mandolin from beginner to advanced level, and can travel anywhere within 20 miles of Birmingham for sessions.
A pleasure to have him as guitar teacher for our son. Excellent classes, always prompt on time, and always overruns!!
A super tutor for my 7 year old son who has always wanted to learn how to play :)
Fantastic tutor. Obviously a very experienced musician who is also a brilliant tutor. Very friendly and every lesson is enjoyable and great value for money. Can't recommend him highly enough.
Andy is a really nice tutor, our son is only 6 (nearly 7)and he has a lot of patience. Our son is improving weekly. His lessons are organised and differ from week to week. We would recommend Andy especially for young children
Andy is an excellent teacher. He is calm and friendly and always on time. My son feel very relaxed for his lesson and looking forward for it.
Lessons : his lessons suitable for my son as he doesn't rush and that's what I'm looking for. But by saying that my son can do alot for the little time he learned.
Overall we are very happy with him and will definitely continue his lessons.
My son is 7 years old, enjoys his guitar lessons and looking forward for the next one. Andy tailors each lesson and covers enough information to keep my son focused and engaged.
My seven your old son is really enjoying his lessons with Andy. Andy really breaks it down into simple manageable parts and explains everything for him in a manor he can understand. He's only had 3 lessons but already I see improvement, which is credited to Andy. My son leaves each lesson buzzing with his new knowledge and looks forward to his return. Andy is always punctual and easy to talk to. I highly recommend his services
