I'm currently in my third year of studying Chemical Engineering at Newcastle University. I have an in-depth knowledge of maths having achieved an A* at GCSE and an A at A-level, as well as studying various modules at university involving maths. I really enjoy trying to improve others' understanding of maths and helping them to achieve, and even exceed, the grades they want.
I have a range of experience in assisting others with their education. Whilst studying for my A-levels, I volunteered at a local primary school on a weekly basis to assist the teaching inside the classroom. This involved helping the students in small groups and on a one-to-one basis with the tasks set by the teachers. I've also always been happy to help friends on my own courses from school through to university, and I'm regularly their first port of call if an assignment is due or an exam is around the corner.
I take a flexible approach to teaching, as I know each student prefers to learn in their own way. However, I will always ask the student prior to the session what topics they most want to improve upon, and I will then do my own research to find out what methods I personally used to get a grasp of it. Having taken these same maths exams in recent years, I can recognise what a student has to improve upon to be able to tackle the questions and achieve the best grade possible.
I am extremely friendly and easy to get along with, and I am also very patient with students as I know from my own studies how challenging maths can be. I am always happy to provide the resources required for the lessons, as well as anything else I found useful when studying the same courses such as textbooks.
