Maths (KS3)

This class is aimed at year 9 pupils who want to improve their probability skills. We will cover simple probability; relative frequency; tree diagrams for independent and dependent events; and exam-style problem solving. This class is super interactive and students will be constantly engaged!

Taught by Alex P.

Up to 10 students

13 - 14 year olds

4 x 1 hour sessions

Tuesdays at 7:00pm

£10.00 per session

Total £40.00

Tuesday 15th February at 7:00 PM 60 mins

In session one we begin to explore the concept of probability and understand how to work out and represent the probability of events occurring. We will interleave probability skills with those of fractions, decimals, percentages and ratios.

Tuesday 22nd February at 7:00 PM 60 mins

In session two we will consider the concepts of relative frequency and expected outcomes. We will gain a firm understanding of the procedure for working with these, but extend ourselves with problem-solving and exam-style questions.

Tuesday 1st March at 7:00 PM 60 mins

In session three we will problem solve with independent events and construct tree diagrams. We will consider the ‘and’ rule in probability, and its many applications. We will use online tools and pen and paper to construct tree diagrams - keeping students engaged with their own learning throughout.

Tuesday 8th March at 7:00 PM 60 mins

In session four we will problem solve with dependent events and construct tree conditional diagrams. Students will discuss the differences between dependent and independent events. Students will gain confidence in this common GCSE higher topic.
