Romeo and Juliet: 'Theme and context'
This class will explore how religion affected marriage and family, how conflict keeps the feud alive and how hour is important. It will also look at the love between Romeo and Juliet. Finally, it will look at how this is all done through atmosphere and mood.

Session 1
60 mins
In the first session, we will be looking at religion during Shakespeare’s time, and how this affected family and marriage.
Session 2
60 mins
In the second session we will look at the conflicts within the two families, their feud as well as honour.
Session 3
60 mins
Session 3 will look at the love and fate of Romeo and Juliet.
Session 4
60 mins
In the final session, we will look at the mood and atmosphere of the play and the poetry that Shakespeare uses.
