Creative Writing Classes - Poetry with a Poet!
We will focus on building imagery; the power of simile, metaphor and personification; how to write stand-out poetic lines and how to compose a meaningful and desirable poem. Classes are for 8-11 year olds (Y3-Y6) and the course of lessons will run for six weeks.

Unlock the power of imagery by focusing on how powerful and emotional description can enhance the reader sees the intended image in the mind's eye!
Session 2

A focus on metaphor and simile. Using the power of figurative language to really make a poetic/line or poem stand out.
Session 3

The power of personification: understand how to use personification effectively in a poetic line/poem to enhance your writing.
Session 4
60 mins
Composition and affect part 1: how to piece together a poem of your choice and use previously taught skills to do this.
Session 5
60 mins
Composition and affect part 2 + performance: how to edit previously written work, share this work with an audience and then confidently perform what you have written.
Session 6

Rehearsal and performance: how to share your completed poem with an audience and recital techniques in order to ooze confidence!

What is a small group class?
- A class is a series of live lessons held online with up to 9 other similarly aged students and a single tutor.
