Wie geht es dir, bist du bereit? Success in GCSE exams comes with exam skills. This class works through the four parts of the exam and helps students score highly. In addition to full-on exam prep, we will develop top tips lists for each skill and students will be introduced to self-study resources.
Tuesday 25th January at 6:00 PM 60 mins
Session 1: Reading – the skill everyone prefers. We will look at a text and questions about the text, just as in the exam, and work out how to spot the keywords and key concepts.
Tuesday 1st February at 6:00 PM 60 mins
Session 2: Listening – the skill everyone is scared of. We will look at short listening extracts (and transcripts if needed) and focus on how to pick out the relevant information.
Tuesday 8th February at 6:00 PM 60 mins
Session 3: Speaking 1 – the skill everyone wants to have. We will look at how to answer the GCSE questions, how to structure answers and how to make sure that all the boxes on the mark scheme get ticked.
Tuesday 15th February at 6:00 PM 60 mins
Session 4: Writing 1 – the skill that is often overlooked. We will look at the short essay and tackle the issue of having too few words to say it all.
Tuesday 22nd February at 6:00 PM 60 mins
Session 5: Speaking 2 – the skill everyone wants to have. We will look at the dialogue question of the exam, prepare short dialogues and practise how to react quickly.
Tuesday 1st March at 6:00 PM 60 mins
Session 6: Writing 2 – the skill that is often overlooked. We will look at the long essay and tackle the issue of having not enough ideas to get through it.
I have taught a range of languages in university and non-university contexts and it is still a fantastic experiences to help another person make a language their own. I believe in taking one step at a time and breaking things down into manageable chunks.
