Session 1

Learn how and why you should plan. Planning generates ideas. There’s nothing worse than not knowing where to start–I’ll help you never have to face this again! We’ll explore genre conventions, creating mood through vocabulary choices and tone. What effect are you aiming to create? How will the reader know this?
Session 2
60 mins
I’ll show you how to transport your reader to another time or place or situation. We’ll revise language techniques such as metaphor, simile, personification, hyperbole and alliteration. We’ll discuss why structuring your story well is essential and learn how to do it!
Session 3
60 mins
This week we’ll go over basic story structure and the importance of giving your character a desire to propel the plot. Tension and conflict are important and we’ll explore how we can include these in your stories. We’ll come up with powerful opening lines to engage the reader from the start.
Session 4
60 mins
How to develop an engaging and convincing character. We’ll discuss memorable characters from fiction and the reasons they’re memorable! We’ll look at how we can imitate excellent writers to make our own writing stronger. Finally, we’ll explore the importance of showing not telling to engage the reader.
