Who is your main character? You'll answer ten questions from your character’s perspective to really start to get to know them. Decide on their hopes, dreams and desires (and fears and flaws!) You'll work on developing a convincing character who is the star of your story.
Learn about how to use the five senses to describe setting so effectively that your reader is transported to another time and place. You’ll also be taught about how to use language techniques such as simile, metaphor, personification, hyperbole and alliteration to make your settings super-vivid and powerful.
Plotting! What does your character want and how are they going to get it? What is standing in their way? What happens in the beginning? The middle? The end? What’s the most important part of the story? Using Freytag’s pyramid to illustrate basic story structure, you’ll learn the fundamentals of plot.
