Class content

Session 1

Wednesday 20th October at 5:00 PM 60 mins

In this first session we deconstruct description, looking at what makes a compelling piece of descriptive writing. Students will evaluate what makes pieces of creative writing effective and do some descriptive writing of their own.

Session 2

Wednesday 27th October at 5:00 PM 60 mins

In session two we break down the building blocks of a plot. Students will discuss what makes an effective opening and ending to a story, and will choose the plotting structure that best suits them to plan a story.

Session 3

Wednesday 3rd November at 5:00 PM 60 mins

In this final session we'll discuss the different ways form can be used when writing in a classroom setting. This session also looks at the realities of writing in a classroom, including what to do when you get a boring prompt, what to do when you feel stuck, and how to manage your time.
