Unit 1: Bringing Shakespeare to life (For students who don’t like Shakespeare.)

We’ll be looking at Shakespeare in a fun, lively and entertaining way, so that you’re more than ready to tackle any of his plays in your studies; everything from enjoying the jokes to learning the quotes. We will be focussing on the two Shakespeare plays - Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet- which are the most commonly studied as part of GCSE English Literature in KS4. In this two-session unit we will look at gripping scenes from both plays, using film from contemporary productions, and the texts of speeches, which will really bring the characters to life, even for the most “Shakespeare- resistant” student ! Students will be given fun, playing-detective tasks to do during the breaks. This Course is accessible and differentiated for dyslexic students and other students who have a neurodiverse way of learning. The course will be interactive, but you can join in as much or as little as you want. Students will be given a full schedule of what to expect in each class, with relevant accompanying notes or handouts. Also, there’s space during and at the end of every lesson to get extra individual tutor support. This is one of 3 available units, with an option to sign up for the other 2 units; So you can choose just this 2 -day self-contained unit, or sign up for either or both of the 3 other weekly units.
