Large Data Set and Data Collection The first thing you need to do in statistics is collect some data to work with. In this session we’ll look at how data is collected and how to work with the large data set.

Wednesday 26th January at 6:00 PM 60 mins

Measures of Location and Spread Measures of location and spread include the mean, variance and standard deviation. We’ll revisit how to calculate the mean and standard deviation for different data sets and how this is used when analysing data.

Wednesday 2nd February at 6:00 PM 60 mins

Representations of Data and Correlation There are multiple ways to represent data such as box plots, histograms and cumulative frequency graphs. We’ll look at exam questions for each of these ensuring you understand how to plot and interpret them, finishing with the idea of correlation and linear regression.

Wednesday 9th February at 6:00 PM 60 mins

Probability and Binomial Distribution In this session we’ll look at probability distributions and venn diagrams. We’ll also look at the binomial distribution in detail and ensure you’re able to calculate probabilities using the tables in the exam and on your calculator.

Wednesday 16th February at 6:00 PM 60 mins

Hypothesis Testing Hypothesis testing is going to appear on your exam. It’s a core part of statistics and a common area for students to struggle with. We’ll go through how to perform a hypothesis test, finding the critical region and evaluating one and two-tailed tests.
