AQA Power & Conflict Part 3
This class covers the last five AQA Power & Conflict anthology poems. The classes guide students in their annotation, analysis skills, helping them examine the poems’ context, themes and devices. Students will gain a clear grasp of pace, tone, structure & language devices, and comparison skills.

Session 1

War Photographer, by Carol Ann Duffy. We will read the poem aloud, then focus on annotating the poem effectively, before covering relevant contextual points for consideration. We will then consider ways to compare key quotes with other poems in the anthology.
Session 2

Tissue, by Imtaz Dharker. We will read the poem aloud, then focus on annotating the poem effectively, before covering relevant contextual points for consideration. We will then consider ways to compare key quotes with other poems in the anthology.
Session 3

The Emigreé by Carol Rumens. We will read the poem aloud, then focus on annotating the poem effectively, before covering relevant contextual points for consideration. We will then consider ways to compare key quotes with other poems in the anthology.
Session 4

Checking Out Me History by John Agard. After reading the poem aloud, we will consider concepts relating to rhythm and structure before considering further poetic techniques that students identify. We will then consider ways to compare key quotes with other poems in the anthology.
Session 5
60 mins
Kamikaze by Beatrice Garland. After reading the poem aloud, we will cover relevant contextual points for consideration and important poetic techniques. We will then consider ways to compare key quotes with other poems in the anthology.
