The average cost of tuition sessions depends on your location, level of study, and above all the experience of the tutor. Private Tutors often charge different rates depending on the level of study.

Summary

On average you can expect to pay between £15 and £30 per hour, dependant on subject, location and the tutors experience. For example, it'll cost more for most tutors in London or specialist subjects such as admissions. Below are some average hourly costs you can expect to find;

  • Tuition costs the most in London (£25.55), whilst towns in the Midlands have the lowest hourly rates.
  • Less English tutors available nationally which has lead to a higher hourly rate of £24 per hour, compared to Maths, which is charged at £21.86 per hour (Further Maths has a higher hourly rate of £23.85).
  • Parents are more concerned than ever with KS2 SATs results (£21.54), and are now paying more than for KS3 lessons (£21.07).
  • Similarly, Admissions tuition has become highly sought after and thus pushed the hourly rate of tuition up to £25.
